Do you want the opportunity to say thank you to your staff at LEC this year? We are again providing an appreciation opportunity. This year the ads will be a part of the notices that run before all plenary sessions throughout the conference. If you wish to place an appreciation ad, the cost is $100. We would like to have all ads in a JPG or PNG color file that can be inserted into a power point slide.  The deadline to submit an ad is next Friday, November 15 . To purchase your ad, please use  this website . Please contact Kim Violette in School Ministries if you have any questions. Thank you!

Servant Event
Don't forget to log onto the Amazon registry to purchase items for the hygiene kits that are part of this year’s servant event at LEC.  Click here   to order needed items for the care packs. The items will be delivered to Charity on Wheels and brought to LEC, so you don’t have to remember them.

Please note: Because items are being ordered and shipped directly to Charity on Wheels, please place your orders soon so they can arrive on time .

  1. Send the link to your school families in your school newsletter. What a great way to have your whole school support the servant event!

PSD Special Programs
Below, we are highlighting two of our PSD schools that have dedicated programs for special learners. We will share more as the year goes on!

Anaheim Hills, CA -- Hephatha Lutheran School's Matthew 19 Program is designed for students that have higher learning and behavioral needs. Students spend half of the day receiving specialized instruction in Math, Language Arts, and Social Skills. During the second half of the day, students return to their general classrooms to participate in subjects like History, Science, and Religion. This hybrid program gives students the academic and social focus they need, but also allows them time to interact with their peers.
Las Vegas -- Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School's Mark 10:14 Program is a full inclusion program for students with disabilities including, but not limited to, Down Syndrome, Autism, TBI, William's Syndrome, and Kabuki Syndrome. The photos below show these students working with their peers in the regular classroom or receiving one-on-one instruction in the Mark 10:14 room.

The Mission:
To provide an excellent education for middle and high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an inclusive Christian setting.

The Program:
• Provides extensive opportunities for students who have special needs to participate in general education classes and campus activities.
• Ensures a high level of exposure to the general education curriculum.
• Provides intensive, individualized instruction using research-based methodologies to maximize students' academic progress.
• Encourages and fosters relationships between non-disabled students and students with disabilities.
• Instructs and models Christian principles.
• Welcomes students of all faiths.

Hearts for Jesus - Order Your Rice Bags Today!
The 2019-2020 Hearts for Jesus information packets were recently mailed to all administrators. Included was a sample of the poster, postcard, and student workbooks that can be downloaded and printed from the website. Please take a few moments to click on the link to see what a wonderful project Mission India has prepared for your students: Experience India . Our goal is to provide the funding for 1,500 students to attend the after-school Children’s Bible Clubs.

To save postage and to make this as convenient as possible, please order your contribution/coin collector Rice Bags, and you can pick them up at LEC. Contact Ellen Pratt at [email protected] and let her know how many bags you need for your students. Thank you for supporting Hearts for Jesus!
New Teacher Investment Program
We are excited to share our New Teacher Investment Program with you! This program serves as a tool to help support new teachers in their new positions. In each module of this program, you will find resources and discussions on given topics that are applicable to being a new teacher. We encourage you to participate in these discussions and to get connected with other teachers in the district. This will help you to work through questions that you have and to build a network of educators who you can collaborate with for years to come.

This program is for all new teachers, their mentors, and principals. Click here for the webpage with a video, more information, and a link to join the program!
POLS Conference
We are excited to welcome the POLS Conference (Principals of Large Schools) to the Pacific Southwest District and specifically to Orange County this January 16-18, 2020! This year, Early Childhood Directors are welcome to attend as well! If the enrollment of your school is 300 (combined preschool through eighth grade), your Preschool Directors and Principals are welcome to attend!  Please click here for more information and to register to attend. Let’s have a great PSD attendance for this national conference!
