COVID-Fatigue, Misinformation Weighing on Consumers in 2022

The Gulf South Index reports recent date on how consumers in this region feel as we approach two years of navigating a global health pandemic. Just when we thought things were returning to a familiar rhythm of what we remember as normalcy and we were gearing up for a joyous holiday season, Omicron emerged with a vengeance.

A majority of Americans say they feel “worn out” by how the pandemic has impacted their daily lives, and nearly 50% feel “angry” about it, according to the latest Monmouth University Poll. Consumer frustration is also having an impact on how people view the government’s handling of the pandemic.
6 in 10 Americans feel worn out by the pandemic
53% in the Gulf South think it is a good time to find a good paying job

Northshore Young Professionals Honored
More than a 160 people attended the reception hosted last week by both the St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Chambers for the Northshore’s Forty Under 40 young professionals! Both the 2020 and 2021 honorees—joined by family, friends, and coworkers—were celebrated in person at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum. Thanks to EDGE of the Lake Magazine and Northshore Media Group for this recognition program—and to all the sponsors for making the event possible with Grace Funeral Home and St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden as presenting sponsor.
