The nights are chilly...
But the days have been really gorgeous! It's been a glorious fall here in Vermont. After a rainy start, we've seen so much sunshine! The leaves have changed, and are raining down from above every day. It seems we're headed toward the end of the year like a freight train.
We're seeing more customers come in with plans for holiday gifts. Quilts, runners, ornaments, advent calendars, clothing, and much, much more. It's a wonderful feeling to be able to make something special for someone you love. Sure, sometimes we have to be sneaky about it, so our loved ones don't find out, but that's part of the fun. What are you making for your friends and family this year?
Some of you are already doing holiday shopping - we saw that last weekend, during our Sample Sale. Lots of people came in and found treasures, from quilt tops and runner tops just needing to be quilted and bound, to finished quilts, ready to be wrapped and gifted. Several of you have had your eye on certain shop samples over the years, and were thrilled to find they were part of the sale. We still have plenty of samples left to sell, so stop in and see if one of your favorites is still available.

Halloween Haunt Tour 2019
The 4th Annual Halloween Haunt Tour is coming your way, October 25 - 27! It's a fun mini-Shop Hop, with just four stores - Sunny Laurel Sisters, A Quilter's Garden, Stowe Fabric & Yarn, and Yankee Pride. Tour tickets are just $4, available only during the event, and you'll find treats, monster patterns, and a chance to win the grand prize of $50 gift certificates to all four shops! Get your ticket stamped at each shop, and you'll get Boo Bucks - coupons from the shops to be used starting in November.
Yankee Pride Helping Hands 2019
Make plans to come to our Helping Hands workshop on Make A Difference Day, Saturday, October 26. Cindy will be at the shop from 10:30 - 4, and there will be bindings to sew and tops to make, all to go to Laurie's House in St. Albans. Please let us know if you're coming, so we have room enough for everyone!
NOTE: We have fewer bindings to stitch this year, but there will be kits for people interested in making tops, so if you'd like to sew, please bring your machine!
Fall 2019 Classes
Our Fall 2019 class schedule is up and on the web, and classes have begun! The classes listed below are starting in the next few weeks. Clicking on the link for each one will take you to the class page, where you can find more information, or sign up online. You can also sign up by calling us at 802/872-9300, or by stopping in at the shop.
Laura Heine's Featherweight Collage with Vickie Hutchins (10/20). Oh, the collage quilts are so popular right now! Vickie is a Laura Heine-certified instructor, so you'll get the best guidance when making your quilt. If you don't have the perfect fabric in your stash, no worries - she'll have fabric kits available to purchase in class!
Machine Piecing with Ruth (10/22 & 10/23). This is technically Part 2 of Ruth's Intro to Quilting series, but anyone can take it! If you need some guidance, some tips and tricks, and a little more basic knowledge in your quiltmaking, this multi-week class is for you. You'll make enough blocks to complete a sampler quilt!
Embroidery Stitching Basics with Kay (10/29). Do you love embroidery, but can't quite figure out how to make those lovely stitches look so lovely? Kay will show you how! She's holding a workshop to teach you the fine points of creating classic stitches by hand.

Recent Fabric Arrivals These are the highlights of recent arrivals. Click on the photo for a closeup, and click here if you're interested in purchasing any of these fabrics by the yard on our website: Ebb and Flow from Janet Clare by Moda Janet certainly knows her designing strength - her indigo and white prints are so striking! This line reminds us of the ocean, of course - it would make a wonderful quilt for someone who loves the open water.
Bear Camp by Windham Fabrics Here in Vermont, we have deer camp. All the hunters head out for a week (or so), hunt, eat, and have a good time. From this line of fabric, it looks like bear camp is slightly different. All the animals are camping, but we don't see any hunting going on! They're just having a good time. It's a great group of fabrics for a child who loves woodland creatures.
Winter Whimsy by Henry Glass Isn't this flannel adorable? Not everyone has a thing for gnomes, but these guys are just the cutest! Make a fun winter quilt using the border fabric (top in photo). Cindy bought some of the allover print (bottom in photo) to make pajama pants - won't they be fun on Christmas morning?!
