Clean water for God's thirsty children
Providing Clean Water to the Poorest of the Poor
A little girl tries to help as her mother trains to be a Water Woman.
Socially-distanced training took place recently, in our attempt to keep the trainers and the new Water Women safe.
In the early 1970s, Rem Reyes came from the Philippines to live in the United States. In 2016 he made a trip back for Water With Blessings, and traveled to places he'd never been before.

"These are very remote places, with the poorest of the poor," Rem said. "You travel as far as you can by car, and then it's a long boat ride from there. There's no electricity, no phone service. We said to ourselves, thank God we were able to reach these places.

"And, of course, there are no water treatment facilities. The people were getting their water from lakes or rivers, or using rainwater. They were drinking it as is, or boiling it when they could."

Health issues have kept Rem from returning to the Philippines since that first trip, but with the initial contacts he made and through his continuing efforts, there is now a team of more than 30 volunteers training Water Women across the country. Water With Blessings also partners with Oikos , an organization run by Catholic women religious.

Today in the Philippines there are nearly 3,000 Water Women providing clean water to their own and 3 other families.
Because of the coronavirus, work has been curtailed since February, but Rem hopes the work can begin again later this week.

"The only place we have been able to train recently was in Eastern Samar Island, where a typhoon had struck," he said. "We were able to be there to help the people with 100 filters."

Rem credits the generosity of many Filipino donors who have made Water With Blessings' success in the Philippines possible over the past four years.

"They provide buckets, transportation, gas, food, accommodations -- without them we couldn't have accomplished anything," he said. "Many families, private individuals, foundations. We're so grateful for all that they have done."

As are the people drinking clean water.

"To them, it's amazing," Rem said. "They told me that they had been praying for someone or something to help them. They say it's a miracle, a Godsend. God listened to their prayers and sent us there."
News From Closer to Home: An Event at Village Anchor, and Contributions for Cradles for Christ
The Village Anchor – Celebrity Host event is their way of giving back to nonprofits in the Louisville area.

On Sunday August 30 during the dinner shift (5-9pm), Water With Blessings will be the host for the evening. Up to 10% of the night's total revenue will be donated to us. We hope you can join us in celebrating our life-changing work. Village Anchor is located at 11507 Park Road in Anchorage, Kentucky, and their website is villageanchor.com

Dine out orders will also count towards the donation.
And yes, we’ll be at the door greeting guests and telling them about Water With Blessings.

Also, we want to remind you that we're asking crafters and makers to donate one item (or more) to our  Cradles of Christ & Silent Night Auction Event  on December 11-13, 2020. With the continued pandemic, we know there are few opportunities for craft shows.

Items with a Christmas or nativity theme do particularly well. If you have items to donate or know someone who might, please share this message.

Items can be mailed or dropped off at the Water With Blessings office:
11714 Main St, Suite D
Middletown, KY 40249

You will receive a tax receipt too! Thank you for your help. Blessings!
Coffee Chat: Keeping Us Connected Amid Continuing Covid Concerns
It looks like the coronavirus isn't going away any time soon, so we're going to keep on keeping up our spirits through our weekly Coffee Chats.

This week we're heading for
The Philippines
(virtually, of course.)

In addition to our usual praying, sharing, and laughing, Rem Reyes will give us an update on the continuing efforts to bring clean water to God's thirsty children in the Philippines. He also wants a chance to thank you for all you're doing for the people there and around the world.

Please grab your favorite morning beverage and join us at 9am on Friday, July 17.
Recently in the Philippines, a young boy was able to carry this brand new bucket filled with the precious gift of newly-filtered, clean, safe water.

Thank you again for providing clean water for God's thirsty children.
We believe every child should be drinking clean water. Are you with us?
