ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MARCH 17, 2013:
NEXT SERVICE: Sunday, March 24: As This Bill Sees It. After 25 years of sobriety what has this member of the congregation learned from attending all those A.A. meetings? Our speaker this morning will reflect on what he has learned about life in general and as a recovered alcoholic from attending those meetings. He will quote extensively from a book he has written on those same lessons. "Bill" (In accordance with the anonymity required of alcoholics at public gatherings, only first names should be used.)
NEXT DROP-IN DISCUSSION: Sunday, March 24: Antifragile. Nassim Nicholas Taleb in his book Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder, says that avoiding risk can be dangerous, avoiding stress can be unhealthy and maximizing efficiency can lead to collapse. Phil Ebersole will lead a discussion of these ideas.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: Kids ages four and older join us every week in the sanctuary for the first portion of our worship service. Children's Worship begins after the Message for All Ages. Nursery care for babies and younger children is provided throughout the service on the second floor. We also have seating in our second floor foyer, where parents can hold their little ones and listen to the service via speaker.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES voted unanimously to extend Rev. Munson's contract for a second year of interim ministry with us. We will be starting some of the preparations for the settled minister's search very soon...stay tuned for more details.
EASTER PLANTS: Please help decorate the sanctuary for Easter by ordering a plant for $9. Becky Elwell and Ruth Fitzgerald are taking orders until March 24th. Please specify whether you want to take the plant home with you after the Easter service or want to give it to a member of the home congregation. If you'd like to dedicate the plant in memory of or in honor of someone, we'll list his/her name in the Easter Sunday order of service. Also, if you'd like to deliver a plant to someone, we could use your help!
LUUNCH BUUNCH will gather on Sunday, April 28 at India House, 998 Clinton Avenue South, for their scrumptious buffet at noon after the service. There are plenty of choices for vegetarians as well as omnivores. All are welcome!

The 7:30pm play performance at First Unitarian Church, 220 S. Winton on Sat. March 23 will be preceded at

FINGER FOODS NEEDED FOR RECEPTION: Glenda and Karen are soliciting people who can contribute a dozen or so finger-food items for the reception following the "Winton-Clinton" play performance: cookies, mini muffins, petit-fours, small pastries, etc.
TRAIN FOR RAIHN: If you'd like to volunteer for RAIHN (Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network), consider attending the training session at Temple Sinai (363 Penfield Rd ) on Thursday, March 21st, from 7-9 PM. The session will cover how RAIHN works, why it's needed, who are the families we serve, and what you need to know to volunteer. Then you can use your new knowledge during First Universalist's Host Week, May 12-19, when we will host guest families who temporarily need housing. Questions?
