September & October 2019 Newsletter from the Figaro Owners Club - Issue No: 106
Good Morning ,

Welcome to our September & October 2019 Newsletter

As you can see from the length of this Newsletter it's been a manic couple of months for the club and our members. I've even managed to squeeze in the Chiltern Figaro Fun Run which we went on yesterday to make for 6 events featured! Unusually we had more copy than we could handle and have had to hold over a number of member stories and features for our November & December Edition.

A quick shout-out goes to the following members who have helped with these events namely; Belinda Richardson for coordinating Silverstone, Ken Graham for helping organise Carfest North, Anita Waters for organising Saltwood Castle, Patrick Light for helping with Tewkesbury Classic & Pam Heath for organising the Chiltern Fun Run.

Strictly Come Dancing came calling

Fans of the show ( due to return next Saturday 7th September) will be interested to learn that there will be a Figaro featured in the show. Filming took place in London a couple of weeks ago and featured four of the professional dancer's trying to find the rehearsal studio.

A number of classic and modern cars where driven which will become part of the intro to the show. Read more below

How to replace a broken wing mirror glass

Having somehow broken the drivers side mirror glass on Belle the hunt was on to source replacement glass. I originally brought one from The Figaro Shop but found replacing the actual glass whilst the mirror is attached to the car very fiddly and the magnification and fit was not great either.

So I decided to buy the whole unit from Ebay which cost me £50 and swap my re-chromed stalk over.  Watch Video
Car Fashion

The Figaro continues to be the go-to vehicle for the fashion industry. This one is the latest from SilkFred an Animal Leopard Print Layered Satin Slip Midi Dress.

The Model Nancy Sorrell says her husband, Jim Moir, the comedian Vic Reeves, to thank for her introduction to the Figaro. Over the years the car has attracted celebrity owners such as Eric Clapton, Frank Skinner and Athina Roussel.

Sue and I had a wonderful day out at Claydon House 'Cars at Claydon' event displaying Belle. We entered for three awards best shine, best interior, debut car and won two: Best Shine & Best Interior. There was lots of interest in our little car too, so proud to tell people it's ours!

They are very interested in getting us back as a club so hope to do an event there next year, it's a lovely venue.

Members Stories - New Website Section

As a club we love publishing stories about our members and their Figaros. Over the last 10 years we've seen some extreme paint jobs, luxurious cabin refits, up-rated audio systems and even bizarre boat portholes for rear windows!

If you've added something unique to your Figaro then please get in touch so we can share with everyone in the club.

We have over 40 stories on our website so grab a coffee and get some inspiration Read more
Club Adopts RNLI Lifeboat Station

During our Wales Figaro Rally a few months ago some of us were lucky enough to be shown around the RNLI Aberystwyth lifeboat station. They treated us so well with a comprehensive talk about the amazing job they do saving people followed by a unique opportunity to even sit in some of their lifeboats.

The visit was organised by members Belinda & James Richardson who are again driving their Porsche on a challenge (see below). We felt it only fair to make a club donation of £238 towards station as a thanks and here is the plaque that is now proudly location on the building.

Remembering David Madden

Sad news with the passing of member David Madden last month. He will be sorely missed by Sue and me and many members of our club.

David always had a smile for everyone and was such a lovely person. Our thoughts are with his wife Jo and the family.

My son Daniel in June 2008
About the club

How the club started
My son Daniel had always wanted a Figaro, having seen the car at our local garage when he was just 16. After saving for a number of years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad) he brought an Emerald Green model in June 2008.

Following the purchase we scoured the internet for a members club in the hope that we could attend events with other owners, but were amazed that none existed...and so the Figaro Owners Club was born!  We decided to build a website and forum which took 6 months, and on the 1st March 2009 we pressed the 'publish button' and waited to see if anyone wanted to join. Within a week we had 10 members, a month 35 and a year 478 members.

Today the club has around 1,250 members worldwide in countries including New Zealand, Japan, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and many more.
We are grateful to you and all our other members for help and encouragement throughout our journey as the club has grown into a passion which has taken over our lives.
Warmest Regards
