The Glades Initiative Pantry of Choice Hours

We hope that the flexibility of our new “Pantry of Choice” hours helps us to serve you better. You may come to shop in the pantry once per week at any time during open hours. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines)! Food will no longer be distributed outside.

Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week

WHEN: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Tuesday)

2022 Homeless Point in Time Count - Volunteers Needed, Sign up Now for Training

The Point in Time Homeless Count is an annual street and shelter count to determine the number of people who are experiencing homelessness. To cover all of Palm Beach County, it takes several hundred volunteers every year. Volunteers work in teams that each have an experienced team lead who can answer any questions and ensure the evening is a success. Register to participate in the count, which takes place in late January 2022.

Palm Beach County Food Finder Map

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Assistance Available to Palm Beach County Residents

Funding will assist income eligible homeowners, residing in the unincorporated area of Palm Beach County, with substantial rehabilitation to correct code violations or items that will soon become a code violation. Properties MUST be located within a federally designated Qualified Census Tract (QCT).

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.

Race for Freedom by PBC Human Trafficking Task Force & Human Trafficking Coalition of the Palm Beaches

Mentoring Program Serves Pahokee Elementary Students, Volunteers and Mentees Wanted

Mentoring offers a fun, safe, and structured opportunity for one-on-one mentoring for the youth. Mentoring is a supervised onsite program that happens between 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mentoring is done virtually; mentors must be 18+; mentees must be students at Pahokee Elementary or Pioneer Park Elementary; mentees must be in grades 2nd - 4th.
