Golf Shoot-Out
Registration is open for the 25th Annual Greene County Partnership Golf Shoot-Out. The tournament is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, at Link Hills Country Club, and the entry fee of $150 per player includes cart and greens fees, lunch, beverages during play and food following the tournament. Sponsorships are available as follows: title sponsor, $1,500; beverage cart sponsor $300; contest sponsor, $250; and hole sponsor, $175. Partnership members are invited to provide door prizes ($25 or more), and goody bag items for the golfers. For more information, contact  Joni Parker  at the Partnership, 423-638-4111.
Membership Breakfast
Don’t forget to RSVP for the September Membership Breakfast for Tuesday, September 10 at 7:30 a.m. at the General Morgan Inn & Conference Center. The breakfast is sponsored by Ballad Health. The cost of the breakfast is $3 with reservations and $8 without. Please call 638-4111 or email gcp@greenecop.com before Friday, September 6 to make a reservation.

Mark your calendar now for the October Membership Breakfast for Tuesday, October 8 at 7:30 a.m. at the General Morgan Inn & Conference Center. The sponsor of the breakfast will be ETSU.

Kids' Day on the Farm
The Agribusiness Committee is making final preparations for the Kids’ Day on the Farm for Tuesday, October 1 at the UT Research & Education Center of Greeneville. Third graders in the City and County school systems will be learning about different aspects of farming.

2019 Leadership Greene County Graduation
Leadership Greene County Class of 2019 graduated at the August Membership Breakfast.

Leadership Greene County Awards
 Leslie Morgan of the USDA Forest Service was honored with the Outstanding Leadership Award, while Ron Zook with the Greeneville Light & Power received the Outstanding Character Award.
Alumni Cookout
Over 100 alumni attended the 1 st Annual Leadership Alumni Cookout had a great turnout. Thank you to Greeneville Light & Power, Meco, Top Choice Barbecue and Angeez Catering for making the event a great success.
2020 Leadership Greene County Kickoff
Leadership Greene County held their kickoff retreat in Pigeon Forge on August 15-16. Members participated in team building activities and learned more about leadership skills. Thanks to Jennifer Solomon for facilitating and to leadership alumni Dale Long, Beth Dyke, Brook Delotto, Misty Key, Chris Walker, Shane Jones and Katie Tassell for their assistance during the retreat.
  Youth Leadership
 Youth Leadership kicked off their year at Holston Home on August 1st. The program has 44 members that they participated in team building and ropes course activities. 
  Youth Council
Youth Council kicked off their year by helping the Greene County Fair on July 20 th . The program has 101 members for the 2019-20 school year. Contact Jennifer Wilder if you have an event that needs volunteer help.
Tourism
Hills N Hollers Hog Rally
Tourism will co-host the 2019 Hills N Hollers Hog Rally at the City Garage Car Museum on September 18-21. The Greeneville location is a “poker stop” and will be handing out water and goodies to the more than 2,000 motorcyclists that are expected. Tammy will be working registration in Johnson City on September 18 &19 encouraging participants to visit Greeneville and our attractions. Volunteers are needed to help with the Hospitality Tent and a $400 sponsor or two $200 sponsors are needed to cover the cost of the event. 
Tourism Workshop
Tourism hosted a successful Marketing & Social Media Workshop with 26 in attendance on August 22.  A special thanks goes out to the Greeneville City Schools, Creamy Cup and Fatz Café for supplying the food and the facility. We would also like to thank Rick Keller and Summit Marketing for leading the workshop and Rhonda Humbert for working registration and helping with set up and break down. Plans are to have future workshops that are more targeted to Facebook, Instagram and website creation.
2019 High Tops to High Heels
Tourism’s Sports Council has set the date for the 2019 High Tops to High Heels “A Celebration of Women in Sports and Tourism” for Tuesday, October 29 th from 11:30-1 at Trinity UM Church. The guest speaker will be two time Olympic medalist and world record setter Kate Ziegler. The cost of sponsorship's are $250 and $500, tickets are $15 each and schools are eagerly seeking corporate sponsorship's for their girl’s teams and students to attend. The student rate is $10. If you or your business would like to sponsor a team(s) at a cost of $10 per student, please contact Tammy at 423-638-4111 or email tkinser@greenecop.com .
Kinser to attend Governor's Conference on Tourism
Tammy Kinser will be attending the Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Nashville, September 4-6 hosted by the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association. She has been asked to participate on a panel discussion for the Tourism Super Seminar that will kick off the Conference. According to tourism numbers from 2018 just released by the TN Dept. of Tourist Development, tourism expenditures continue to rise in Greene County. In 2017, the number sat at $91M and for 2018, numbers rocketed to $94M. A more detailed analysis will be distributed at the Governor’s Conference.
Keep Greene Beautiful
Conservation Camp
Keep Greene Beautiful Fifth Grade Conservation Camp will be held September 24-26 at David Crockett Birthplace State Park. Stations include “Enviroscape”, Keep Greene Beautiful mobile classroom, “Aquatic Insects”, “Nuclear Safety and the Environment”, “Pelt Box”, “Habitats and Fire Control”.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The Annual Household Hazardous Household Waste Collection will be held Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Hal Henard Elementary on Vann Road. This collection is for households only. Paint will not be accepted. Latex paint can be mixed with kitty litter or mulch and thrown away or donated. Oil-based paint can be taken to Public Works (708 W. Summer St.) for city residents or any county convenience center. Please visit the events page of www.keepgreenebeautiful.com for the list of accepted items.
Education & Workforce Development
Plans are under way for the 2019 Made In Greene County Exhibit. The Education & Workforce Development Department will be working with the Manufacturing Council to coordinate this year’s Made In Greene County initiative. The focus of Made in Greene County is to offer students a look into products made locally and potential career opportunities. Any business that would like to participate, including those outside of the manufacturing sector, is asked to contact Dana Wilds to sign up.
The Niswonger Foundation Career Connect Program is seeking business and industry partners for the 2019-2020 school year. This three-year program, in partnership with Greene County and Greeneville City Schools and local industry, is designed to provide students the opportunity to explore career paths, develop "soft" skills, earn workforce readiness credentials, and gain real-world work experience. Intersted business and industry leaders can contact Law Loving at lloving@niswongerfoundation.org or Matt Garland at mgarland@greenecop.com for more information.
