This means that our South Mountain region was selected to participate in a capacity building program that will be facilitated by the Chesapeake Bay Trust.  The purposes of this initiative are to a) increase the collective and individual grassroots capacity to accomplish regional goals at the intersection of community and environment and b) establish durable, powerful, and coordinated efforts to advance programs and policies to improve regions and communities beyond the term of the initiative.

This initiative will provide facilitation services, technical assistance, training and grants to strengthen and diversify regional collaborations working together to advance a shared regional and community driven agenda that improves the quality of life in the region and protects and restores natural resources. This request for proposals invites proposals from regions, prepared collaboratively by organizations working at the community, watershed and/or regional level to improve human health, create economic opportunity, advance clean water plans, increase access of local, sustainable food, conserve lands, protect and enhance community open space, etc, to seek assistance to develop and support cross sector collaborative strategies and also build individual organizational capacity.

Nominations Open for
"Spirit of South Mountain Award"

The South Mountain Partnership annually recognizes an individual, project, or organization that has made significant contributions to advancing a positive and sustainable future for the South Mountain landscape. The Spirit of South Mountain award is presented at the annual "Power of the Partnership"
year-end celebration.  The South Mountain Partnership hosts an annual year-end "Power of the Partnership" celebration that brings together our partners and the broader public to highlight the Partnership's accomplishments from the past year, recognize the recently awarded Mini-Grant recipients, and take a look at projects and programs to come in upcoming year.

Nominations for the award are accepted.  Click here to download the Nomination Form. Nominated projects or organizations are evaluated based on the degree to which they reflect the mission and advance the goals of the Partnership. The Farm Show exhibit will be located near the Macay Street entrance and is a partnership between the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.  Find out more here!

Land and Water Conservation Fund Reauthorized

The Land and Water Conservation Fund, hailed as America's best conservation program, will be reauthorized this week after expiring at the end of September. In its 50-year history, LWCF has helped build trails, parks, river put-ins, trailheads, and access to climbing areas in 50 states. If you love to ski, hike, climb, bike, picnic, camp, or paddle, you have probably benefitted from LWCF. Since its expiration in September, the outdoor recreation community and the larger conservation community have been raising a ruckus with policymakers about reauthorizing the fund.  Find out more here!
