California manufacturers have undertaken the tremendous effort of trying to meet the demand for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
For example, a manufacturer in Rialto (a city in San Bernardino County) has repurposed bottles meant for motor oil for packaging of hand sanitizer. Additionally, some wineries have started making, or partnering with others to produce hand sanitizer.
On Friday, Governor Newsom announced a partnership between the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA), Autodesk, Intel, and the State of California in creating the
"Safely Making California” Marketplace
to help fill a critical gap for all sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
CMTA understands our industry and has been a great partner with CAWG on dozens of advocacy fronts annually. Growers are invited to visit the
Marketplace
and view it as a potential source for supply of PPE.
The Marketplace will be built-out and improved over the next few weeks. It currently provides a directory of California non-medical grade PPE, such as face masks, face shields, gowns, gloves, sanitizer, wipes, and partitions.
