In the fall of 1989, Kelleann Foster found her way to State College like many do, by accepting a position as faculty at Penn State University. Kelleann joined the Department of Landscape Architecture where she would eventually serve as director of the Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture and associate dean of the College of Arts and Architecture from 2014 to 2019.
Shortly after moving to central Pennsylvania, Kelleann was seeking opportunities to connect with fellow environmentally conscious residents. Neil Korostoff introduced her to ClearWater Conservancy, which in 1989 was in its infancy as a conservation organization.
After participating in a number of ClearWater led outdoor programs, Kelleann started volunteering for
Art & Chocolate, ClearWater's annual art auction and gala fundraiser. She later joined the ClearWater Conservancy Board, serving as co-chair and board president.
Looking back, she says while there were many memorable milestones during her time with ClearWater, one of her proudest was working on the protection of Spring Creek Canyon and allowing public access to the beautiful area.
Kelleann now lives in California. While she is enjoying the west coast, she says will miss hiking the forested ridges and beautiful valleys of Penn’s woods, and working with the community to be proactive about protecting our vital natural resources and green space.
Thank you Kelleann for your many years of service and the incredible work you've done to connect, protect, restore, and steward the natural resources of central Pennsylvania.
ClearWater Conservancy relies on the dedication of volunteers like Kelleann to carry out our mission in the region. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out a volunteer interest form or contact Rhonda Rumbaugh at rhonda1@clearwaterconservancy.org.
