Staying involved in the Bloomington/Normal area, and beyond.
Where do you fit... Beyond the Bricks?

Welcome... to the latest issue of
Beyond the Bricks!

Dear Church Family and Friends,

As Jim Warren's leave of absence wraps up, please continue to stay involved "Beyond the Bricks" of FCC by reviewing and seizing on opportunities you see listed here or other places you encounter.

Perhaps you can find one or two ways to be involved, especially with our new Vision and Mission Statements in mind.
  • The FCC Vision:  To be a growing church who welcomes all, grows spiritually, and serves others.
  • The FCC Mission:  To invite and welcome all to the Lord's Table, to strengthen our spirituality with God and one another through prayer, worship, study, and fellowship, and to serve our community with compassion.
Peace and all good,
Your FCC Staff
Attend the Evergreen Village Supportive Living
Annual Craft Expo

Normal, IL  61761

Upscale vendors, homemade crafts, bake sale, and garage sale treasures!
Attend the Bloomington-Normal Really Really Free Market
at Miller Park

Saturday, August 24, 2019
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Miller Park Near the Mini-Golf Course
1020 S. Morris Ave. (near Wood Street entrance)
Bloomington, IL  61701

How it Works:  People drop things off they don't want. People take things they want. It's really that simple. Some people drop and go, some stick around to "shop," and some stick around to chat. You do not have to bring something to take something. Take all you want, give all you want. You don't need to trade, barter, ask permission, feel weird, or anything. Just come and have fun!

This one is at Miller Park, and it is our BIG monthly one. We have smaller popup-style RRFMs weekly on Wednesdays 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Sunnyside Community Garden and Food Forest. See Facebook event listing for details.

Wait, it's all free? No catch? Why?  We don't want useful stuff to end up in the garbage. There is an abundance of stuff around us and we think people should share stuff more and buy stuff less. Really Really Free Markets are all over the world. Give it a Google.

If you have a free service, talent, or activity we would love for you to participate. Please contact us before the event.

Apply to be a Marcfirst Host Home Provider

Marcfirst
1606 Hunt Drive
Normal, IL  61761

Marcfirst's Host Home program assists individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages in McLean County with finding a home designed to encourage independence in a family environment. Host Home Providers open their homes up to individuals supported, allowing the individuals to be immersed in both community and family life. Individuals are matched with a Host Home Provider based on a variety of likes and dislikes.

Host Home providers receive complex training in health and safety, implementation of service plans, and person-centered services. This ensures a quality relationship of support and guidance. Marcfirst staff will visit all homes a minimum of three times per month, checking that the home is safe and individual needs are being met.

Host Home Providers are independent contractors who will be compensated for opening their home to an individual with a developmental disability. Providers make a difference in a person with a disability's life from within their home, by helping individuals achieve their goals, create relationships within the community, and live more independently!
