No classes held on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th.

Classes will be held the week of Thanksgiving:
Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th.

First Reconciliation (children preparing for First Communion)
First Reconciliation will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 19th promptly at 6:45 p.m. in the Church. We ask that only the First Reconciliation child attend with his or her parents.
Be sure to bring some spiritual reading for your child and yourself to fill the time while you are waiting for individual confessions.
Please review the We Believe & Celebrate First Penance book with your child to prepare him or her for this sacrament. The completed books should be brought in for review by your child's catechist the week of November 11th/12th.

Grade 7
Seventh grade students and parents will meet on Sunday, November 10th for a confirmation preparation workshop. There will be an explanation of the components of the St. Paul Confirmation Program, what is required of the candidates, and an opportunity for questions and answers.  Check-in for this event begins at 4:00 p.m. in the St. Paul Cafeteria. The Mass of Acceptance will follow the workshop at 6:00 p.m. in the church.

Confirmation Retreat
Our 8th graders had a beautiful retreat in Attica, Michigan the weekend of October 26-27 with some profound and very joyful experiences.  Our young people drew closer to Christ and to one another during their time away.  Special thanks to all of the adult leaders, to Fr. Tom Slowinski who presided at Eucharistic Adoration and at Mass, and to the Surrender Praise and Worship group who provided inspiring music for both liturgies.

Called to Serve for High Schoolers
Called to Serve Workshop is Sunday, Nov. 10th from 7:00 pm to approximately 9:30 pm in the St. Paul School Canfield Center. All Freshman-Seniors in high school assisting in roles that involve students/children from our parish should attend the workshop. Pizza will be provided and there is no fee. Please be sure your teens bring a completed permission slip with them.  Click here to print the mandatory permission slip.

F ood Drive for Thanksgiving
The food drive is underway and so far the pantry is pretty bare.
If you have not already sent in food, please help! The parishes who have asked for our assistance are really depending on us. Donations may be placed on the tables located outside of the school office.
Life Threatening Allergies
Because there are children in our program as well as children in the school who have deadly allergies to nuts - especially peanuts - we remind you to never send anything with nuts as a snack for your child or his/her class. If your children eat anything with peanut butter or nuts right before class, please make sure that they wash their hands before coming into the school. We had a couple of "scares" around Halloween because of all the peanut candy making its way around the school. A child who suffers from these allergies can even be sickened by contact with a wrapper from a product that contains nuts. Please be very aware of this so that we keep all of our children safe and healthy!

Safety After Class Is Over
We have a volunteer crossing guard on duty at the end of class and a staff person in the playground area to help with safety after your children are dismissed. Please help us to keep your children safe by picking them up promptly and instructing them to not leave the playground until you arrive. We will close the playground area and take any children who have not been picked up back to the RE office 10 minutes after classes are dismissed. At that point, you must come to the RE office to pick up your child. As a reminder, there is no parking or standing allowed next to the orange cones.  Please remind your children that they must exit through the gym doors. We are always in need of volunteers to assist with crossing.  If you are available 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after classes are released, please consider signing up to help out. For more information, please contact the RE Office at 885-7022.

Thanksgiving thoughts . . .

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for difficult times, because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for setbacks. Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they become your blessings.
