COVID-19 Updates

  • Undergraduate Research Restart: Beginning October 14, 2020, undergraduate students may resume on-campus research with the approval of their supervising PI.

NIH Updates

NIH issued NOT-OD-21-013 with the final NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing to promote the management and sharing of scientific data generated from NIH-funded or conducted research.

NIH issued NOT-OD-20-178 announcing a requiement for institutional research training, career development and research education awards to submit the Trainee Diversity Report required with RPPRs, Interim Final RPPRs, and Final RPPRs electronically, using a new option that will be provided in the xTrain and RPPR modules.

NIH is operating under a Continuing Resolution through December 11, 2020 at the FY 2020 enacted level, with no reduction. NIH will issue non-competing research grant awards at a level below that indicated on the most recent NOA. Upward adjustments may be considered after the FY2021 appropriations are enacted.
NSF Updates

Registration opened for the NSF Fall 2020 Grants Conference scheduled for the weeks of November 16th and November 30th. Most sessions are full, but there are still some with available slots. Please view the available sessions and register at the conference website.

NSF is hosting an Electronic Research Administration Forum Webinar on November 5, 2020 from 1:30 - 3:00pm. To participate in this forum, please register here.

To prepare users for the transition from FastLane to Research.gov for proposal preparation and submission, NSF Launched Research.gov Proposal Preparation Demonstration Site. Users can create proposals in Research.gov prior to using the actual submission system. The site includes FAQs. NSF aims to transition to Research.gov by 2022.

NCURA Webinars

OSP registered for the NCURA webinar, "Navigating the Revisions to the Uniform Guidance" scheduled for December 14, 2020, 1:00pm.
The webinar will discuss key changes reflected in the 2020 revision, including updated definitions, new requirements as well as modifications to existing requirements. The discussion will include the government’s purpose in making a particular change, as well as the potential impact to institutions.

University Updates
UT Research Management Suite

This month, the project team along with OSP and OIE management and departmental users will conclude the first stage of development on the new Grants module with testing by the project team slated to begin in the Spring semester.

Updates to the development timeline will be posted on our Scope page.
SPAA Update

SPAA is happy to all vacant positions are filled and they are fully operational. Please see the OSP site and review the organizational chart for a complete view of SPAA organization structure.  
In order to provide better support to the research community SPAA reorganized the staff to align with the award constituency list utilized by the proposal analyst, grant specialist, and contract coordinators.
