Legislative Update - 129th Maine Legislative Session
The 186 members of the 129th Maine legislature adjourned their First Regular Session at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20th, just hours after their statutory adjournment deadline.
     As anticipated with the new Legislative Update  
administration of Governor Janet T. Mills (D) and the Democratically-controlled legislature, the 2019 legislative session was very active in health policy matters.  
     Upon her inauguration, Governor Mills issued two key Executive Orders (Number 1 on ACA Medicaid expansion and Number 2 on the State response to the opioid crisis) and appointed former MMA EVP Gordon Smith as her Director of Opioid Response. The ABFM's PRIME Support and Alignment Network, in collaboration with the University of Colorado- Denver, Department of Family Medicine's e-Learning team has leveraged the power of Bodenheimer's 10 Building Blocks of Primary Care and best pr actices from the landmark, federal Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative to help you improve in three areas:
  • Person- and Family-Centered Care
  • Cost and Value of Care
  • Care Across the Medical Neighborhood
Create your own PDSA cycle intervention using PRIME Registry or other data for tracking your improvement.

Complete one of these three activities-hosted on the University of Colorado's e-Learning platform-for 20 ABFM PI activity credit points!

- non-ABFM certified clinicians use the code: TCPI

Completing one of these modules will satisfy requirements for Performance Improvement Activity/MOC Part IV for family medicine physicians and possibly other specialties.
