Pesticide Disposal Collection Day
NC Cooperative Extension, Clay County Center and NCDA&CS are co-sponsoring a Pesticide Collection Day in Clay County for residents in Clay, Cherokee, Graham and surrounding counties.

Tuesday, September 24th
10:00am - 2:00pm
In the parking lot at the Community Services Building, 25 Riverside Circle, Hayesville.

We will be collecting any pesticides such as insecticides, fugicides, herbicides, etc. All items must be in orginial containers and clearly labeled (we can not accept if they are not). We also can not accept non-pesticide HHW Material (Paints, Oil, Gas, Explosives, Drugs), Cylinders - Hard Metal Casing, and Mini Bulks.
If you have large volumes(Anything over 5 gallons) to dispose of please contact Clay County Center at 828-389-6305 to pre-register.

These days, consumers are looking for more information on their food and how it’s produced. Regarding meats, there are questions related to animal welfare, environmental impacts and food safety among others, which can be challenging to navigate given the number of claims associated with these products. Cherokee County will be hosting a Wildfire Community Preparedness Day at the  North Carolina Forest Service Office  located at the campus of Tri-County Community College on September 21, 2019. Review the flyer for all the important information. For more information about the event contact  Charles Choplin  with the North Carolina Forest Service .

During National 4-H Week, there will be a 4-H Open House at the Community Services Building on October 8, 6:00-8:00. Drop by to see the various Clay County clubs and their projects. 
FREE SOIL TESTING
Stop by the N.C. Cooperative Extension Office, Clay County Center and pick up soil sample boxes to get your soil checked for FREE!! Shipping and testing are free until November.
