MAKING DISCIPLES TO MAKE DISCIPLES - Syria

Syria is in the news a lot these days. War is raging and while many people are being displaced and becoming refugees, many are dying without the opportunity to hear about Jesus. According to Open Doors USA , Syria's population: 18,284,000 Christians in Syria: 814,000 Greatest Challenge: Islamic Oppression Syria is classified as the 11th most dangerous country for Christians . There is a sizable Syrian community across the Caribbean. Many who still have relatives in Syria have become followers of Christ and are praying for the persecuted church in their home country. Caribbean Connect encourages partners and partner churches to join in praying strategically for the church in Syria. In the meantime, we are training Syrian believers in the Caribbean to take the Good News back to their homeland. Caribbean Connect, is involved in training and equipping believers, including two Syrians to take the Gospel to the nations. Our Syrian disciples consider it a privilege that God would save and invite them to join Him in spreading the Gospel. They are burdened by the urgency of the situation in their home country and as a result of the training they received through Caribbean Connect, one is planning to go to Syria in the summer as one of our short term missionaries. His attitude is that of Paul in Philippians 1: 23-24: My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. Please pray: Giving thanks to the Lord for the passion our disciples are showing for reaching the nations with the Gospel. For our Syrian brother (The Lord knows who he is) who is planning to represent us in Syria as a short term missionary. Pray for him as he risks danger on account of his people in Syria. Pray also for followers of Christ in Syria that they might embrace God's grace to endure to the end.

Upcoming Events and Partner Opportunities

Jamaica: January 29 - 31, 2019    Courtney Street ( Caribbean Connect ) and Mark Anderson, ( Call2All) will meet with key leaders in Jamaica to plan for a 2020 Regional Global Mission Congress. The congress is designed to mobilize churches, educate believers, equip and facilitate sending more missionaries from the Caribbean and Middle America with the Gospel to the nations. We will be meeting with 50 key leaders who will engage in planning for the Regional Global Mission Congress. Please join us in prayer for this important meeting.

Trinidad: January 1- February 6, 2019

Arleen Street (right) Caribbean Connect is always looking for mission opportunities to facilitate sending missionaries to the nations. Arleen Street, ( Caribbean Connect ) will join Impact World Intensive in Trinidad to explore mission opportunities for Caribbean churches. The goal is to educate and encourage churches around the Caribbean as we seek to expand the Church to every nation. We still need your help to raise $2600.00 to help cover travel expenses to Jamaica and Trinidad, and to help cover the cost for breakfast for 50 participants and the meeting venue. St. Thomas US Virgin Island: Feb. 18-28 Some years ago Caribbean Connect, partnering with IMB, started a dialogue with some of our church leaders in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This was disrupted when Courtney and Arleen accepted the VRI from IMB in 2015. Thanks to our church, Antioch Baptist in Fairfax VA. who offered to sponsor our reengagement with our sisters and brothers. We are scheduled to travel to St. Thomas U.S. VI., February 18-28. Please pray with us as we join with key persons to develop church expansion and Global Missions plans.

" With the many new doors of opportunities opening to Caribbean Connect, we need workers to volunteer their time and expertise to join in advancing God's kingdom among the nations.
