We have had an awesome week! Our students loved wishing Dr. Goddard a happy birthday this morning and wearing their Disney or Leopard gear. A big thank you to our PTA for "pawing" Dr. Goddard's yard to wish him Happy Birthday. School Dismissal Manager
This year we are using a new dismissal system called School Dismissal Manager. This program will provide us with a more organized and efficient tracking system for afternoon dismissals. If you haven't done so already, please go into Dismissal Manager and set your child's default dismissal option before Monday, August 26, 2019. SafeStop is the live school bus tracking app for parents. This free, easy-to-use mobile app provides real-time updates for your child's bus as it travels to and from school. Parent Portal Accounts
For the 2019-2020 school year, PowerSchool enhanced Contacts to allow us to add one contact and attach multiple students to that account. Information added and/or updated for that person is done one time for all students linked to that person. This includes updating phone numbers, emails, addresses, etc. across campuses.
Parent Portal usernames, account emails and passwords have been updated. Accounts will now be created at the campus by request. Initially we have added accounts for all contacts that are in PowerSchool that have a relationship of Mother, Father, or Guardian using the email on file. This includes students new to the district for 2019-2020 and all new kindergarten students.
The Parent Portal opens on August 12 for viewing schedules, homerooms, and completing the yearly enrollment updates (FERPA, Waivers, and Transportation Requests). No later than Sunday, August 11 each account for the Mother, Father, and Guardian will receive a message through School Messenger using the email on file. This message will include the account username (the email address attached to the account).
2. Click on "Forgot Username or Password?"
3. Enter the Parent Username sent to you through School Messenger (email).
4. Enter the same email address in the "Parent Email Address" field.
5. Click on Enter.
6. An email will be sent to this email address with the temporary password.
7. Use this password to continue to the Parent Portal where you will be required to change the password.
When you are on the Parent Portal, you should see the students attached to your account. However, if you don't see those students you may use the Student Access ID and Access Code contained in the School Messenger email to link the student to your account. If you have multiple students in Lovejoy ISD you will receive one School Messenger email per student.
Volunteer Background Application
For the safety of our students, a criminal history record is obtained annually for every person interested in volunteering at a LISD campus. Upon completion of the background check, applicants will be notified of approval to volunteer.

Ice Cream Social
Our PTA will, once again, host the Lovejoy Elementary Ice Cream Social. We highly encourage you to attend as it's a great time to meet to reconnect with other Lovejoy families. This is a free event for our families. We hope you will join us on September 26th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in the Lovejoy Elementary cafeteria. Our staff members will be attending and serving ice cream and toppings to all who attend.

PTA Membership
Please join the Lovejoy Elementary School PTA! The cost is $8.00 and you will receive a Lovejoy Elementary Directory. Each member will be included in email and text communication throughout the year for all PTA sponsored events. Every member that joins the PTA will be entered into a drawing that will be held at the Ice Cream Social for a parking space. The classroom with the most PTA members will also win a popsicle party!

NEW! PTA Reflections
The Texas PTA has announced this year's theme for their annual Reflections program. Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for over 50 years. Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story.
This year's theme is "Look Within".

to sign up for Double L Choir. Choir meets from 3:10-4:10 on Monday Afternoons. Our exciting performance opportunities this year include, singing for the LES Veteran's Day Assembly, performing at the LISD Fine Arts Festival, singing at North Park Center in December, and performing the National Anthem at an Allen Americans game!!! Rehearsals start on Monday, August 26.
NEW! Lovejoy Children's Choir: 4th, 5th, 6th Graders
The Lovejoy ISD Children's Choir, directed by the Lovejoy ISD Elementary Music Specialists, is designed to serve the needs of our district's 4th, 5th and 6th grade students who are committed to a musically exceptional experience. Auditions will be held on September 10 and 12 for any and all LISD 4th, 5th and 6th grade students interested in participating. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 at SCIS.
