Keystone's master plan needs you
|
|
To the Keystone Community:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, along with our faculty and staff, I invite you to join other stakeholders in helping to shape the future of Keystone.
We are in the early stages of developing a plan that will guide the future of the campus for many years to come and have engaged architects from
Overland Partners
to help us create a new Master Plan. This plan will re-imagine the entire main campus, including the Hildebrand House that was purchased three years ago, as well as the buildings and grounds of the Little School. Go to
OverlandPartners.com
to learn more about the firm.
Overland is gathering input from various members of the Keystone community: current parents, alumni parents, faculty and staff, faculty and alumni. Here’s our schedule for stakeholder meetings:
- Administrative Council: August 1
- Faculty/Staff: August 9
- Facilities Committee: August 22
- Board of Trustees: September 7
- Current Students: September 11
- Alumni: September 14
- Alumni Parents: September 24
- Current Parents: September 26
Overland is also sharing an online survey for those who are not available to come to campus to share their thoughts.
With your input, we can produce the most thorough and well-thought master plan possible, and create spaces that inspire future generations of Cobras to continue Keystone’s heritage and traditions of academic excellence, ethical growth, community involvement, and responsible leadership.
With gratitude,
William B. Handmaker
Head of School

Back to School Night gives parents glimpse into kids' schedules
|
Good thing parents didn't have to do their children's school work when they came on campus Thursday for Back to School Night.
Instead, parents visited their children's classes and got a quick intro to the teachers and their approach to their subjects.

Billy's Blog: From the Head of School

“The willingness to show up changes us, It makes us a little braver each time.”
–Brené Brown
“I love this night!” I heard this many times last Thursday night and last night at Keystone’s annual Back to School Nights. Parents traveled through their children’s schedules, learned about their classes, and saw their classrooms. Hopefully, they also found out that their children’s days are more than “fine” and in fact, our students actually do something, rather than “nothing,” during their time at school. I saw some parents attempt the same experiments that their children do in class, and I heard children the next day asking how their parents did. All in all, it was a wonderful couple of nights.
