New Affordable Housing Investment Corporation
The Federal Government has announced the creation of a new lending institution, the HPC Housing Investment Corporation, to increase affordable housing across Canada. The HPC is a federal non-share corporation that offers financing options for affordable housing providers at long-term fixed interest rates. Read more

UBCM Strikes Climate Action Committee
UBCM has struck a Special Committee on Climate Action to generate new ideas, explore opportunities and barriers to local government action, and identify avenues for further work in partnership in mitigating, and adapting to, the effects of climate change. Read more

UBCM Benefits Plan Marketing Review
UBCM will be conducting a Plan Marketing Review of the UBCM Group Benefits Plan for insurance services in October 2019. UBCM is one of several public sector organizations who will be working together as part of this process and, in aggregate, this initiative is expected to be one of the largest group benefit marketing exercises ever conducted in Canada. Building Wood-Frame Multi-Units Webinar
Registration is open for a BC Housing webinar on Thursday October 10, entitled Designing Building Enclosures in Wood-Frame Multi-Unit Construction. The webinar will focus on the behaviour of wood as a material, fundamentals of heat, air and moisture control, durability principles, and current building code energy provisions for the building enclosure.

Each year, UBCM presents Long Service Awards at the Annual UBCM Convention to eligible local elected officials who have served a total of 25 or 35 years of service. Nominations are being accepted until August 31. Read more
