Recent World Standards Day Emphasized Safety
Event Focused on Importance of Codes and Standards
The World Standards Day began in 1970 and continues to advocate for government participation in codes and standards. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) co-hosted this year's event, which drew 62 attendees. National Safety Council Will Host Congress and Expo
Event Provides Educational Opportunities on Safer Workplaces
The NSC will host its Congress and Expo in September. The event, taking place in San Diego, CA, is
broken up into Congress, September 6-12, and the Expo, September 9-11. ALI members - Little Giant Ladders, Werner Co., Louisville Ladders and Batavia Services - will be exhibitors at the event. Dave Francis, national safety director for Little Giant Ladders, will be representing North America in the "A Global Approach to Ladder Injuries: Working Together to Prevent Injuries and Save Lives" presentation. Francis will be joined by United Kingdom's Chris Chivell, the national safety manager for TB Davies and India's Agastya Sagar Veesamsetty, head of business development for Sagar Asia. Registration Now Open for the Week's Various Events
ANSI hosts the annual event, which brings private- and public-sector stakeholders together to facilitate dialogue about standardization, conformity assessment and workforce development priorities. There will be an Awards Banquet, Grant Awardee Symposium, a Legal Issues Forum and more. The event will be held November 4-8 coinciding with World Standards Day on Nov. 7 in Washington, D.C.
