ACA Successfully Held Healthy Gardening Fair

8月24，美华协会于Madison Heights 华人活动中心成功举办了健康园艺日社区活动。Madison Heights市长Brian Hartwell，EMU 教授Tsu-Yin Wu，美华协会会长陈圣玲，理事：Charles Liu，Lily Van Laere，Sue Sung, Gloria Zhao等出席活动。

Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) held the Healthy Gardening Fair at ACA Madison Heights Chinese Community Center last Saturday, August 24. Madison Heights Mayor Brian Hartwell, EMU professor Tsu-Yin Wu, President of the Association of Chinese Americans Shenling Chen, and board members Charles Liu, Lily Van Laere, Sue Sung, Gloria Zhao and others attended this event.

美华协会一直以来都十分关心健康生活方式的推广，也希望将更多的健康生活理念与知识带到我们的社区，为社区成员们食物健康生活修筑一条平稳的大道。因此，美华协会从2017年开始举办健康园艺日活动。活动以园艺为载体，健康为主题，希望提高社区对健康生活方式的关注。

The Association of Chinese Americans is always promoting community food health and healthy lifestyle. ACA is eager to bring more and more healthy living ways into our community, which could be a bright path from which more members can benefit. As a result, ACA started initiated the Healthy Gardening Fair from 2017. The event is designed to promote healthy gardening and make health as the main theme, which aims to draw the community’s attention to a healthier lifestyle

今年的健康园艺日，健康是主角。美华协会诚邀来自各领域的专业医生和大家分享专业健康，营养知识。

Health, of course, is the protagonist of The Healthy Gardening Fair. Association of Chinese Americans Invited professional doctors from all fields and the Department of Nutrition at Eastern Michigan University.

免费健康检查 Free Health Screening

由DAAA 1-A 推荐来自kidney Foundation的Lindy Talison 带来健身操示范；Dr. Kun Zhong 带来老年人常见病症的早期诊断和治疗讲座；EMU REACH team 教大家阅读食物标签；Henry Ford 医院的医师们和大家分享常见眼部疾病知识；还有 Yi Zhang 的东方与西方按摩对比和展示，让健康主题一直贯穿活动始终。值得一提的是，来自Henry Ford 医院眼科专家们协同韦恩州立大学医学院的学生们带来免费的眼部检查和常规健康检查。

Henry Ford Hospital brought professional health and nutrition lectures to provide people with a comprehensive life knowledge. Lindy Talison from Kidney Foundation demonstrated the Enhanced Fitness exercise. Dr. Kun Zhong brought Early Diagnosis & Treatment of Geriatric Diseases lectures; EMU REACH team gave how to read food labels lecture; Doctors from Henry Ford Hospital shared with the Knowledge of common eye diseases; and Yi Zhang showed the difference between eastern and western massage, so that health themes continued throughout the event. It is worth mentioning that eye specialists from the Henry Ford Hospital teamed up with Wayne State University School of Medicine to bring free eye screening and routine health screening.

除此之外，还有各类健康营养信息咨询，健身知识，心理健康促进 (宋梅琦博士)，公共医疗最新政策，低收入医疗信息咨询，疾病营养知识普及，公民入籍知识，Census, AT&T Access 通讯信息，手工艺品展示，健康美容工具售卖，美华课程咨询，美华活动中心捐书站等摊位为活动现场增添色彩。

In addition, there are various types of health and nutrition information consultation, fitness knowledge, mental health promotion (Dr. Maechi Chue), public health policy, low-income medical information consultation, disease nutrition knowledge, citizenship knowledge, census / AT&T communication Information, handicraft display, health and beauty tools sales, ACA course consultation, ACA book donation station and other booths. All of these booths made the event more colorful!

美食 Delicious Food

美食是所有美华活动必不可少的，来自社区活跃人士与私厨等烹饪爱好者也带来拿手好菜与大家分享。H-Mart，Lily 小吃，来吃呀，八子小屋，美华手工月饼的摊位都吸引了大家争相抢购，让大家接受健康知识的同时更是享受了美味。

Healthy Gardening Day, as its name implies, the colorful activities of course include gardening knowledge sharing, ACA Garden organic vegetable, Local farmers' Fresh vegetable sales, and intense bitter melon competition. Let us look forward to this year's bitter melon contest winner!

园艺成果和知识分享更是受到大家的欢迎。美华爱心菜园的领头人，园艺达人谭柱先生为我们带来了精彩园艺经验分享，还有来自美华菜园的有机蔬菜，铁阁菜园新鲜蔬菜销售。今年的苦瓜更是硕果累累，个个饱满。铁阁菜园准备的十磅西红柿抽奖把活动推向了高潮。最后的西红柿比赛吸引20位参与者争相报名。名次已经不重要了，大家都想快快品尝新鲜可口的西红柿！

ACA senior volunteer, leader of ACA’s Garden of Love, also a gifted gardener Mr. Chue Hom shared his wonderful gardening experience. There are various organic vegetables from ACA Garden and fresh vegetables from Tiege Garden for sale. Bitter Melon are even more fruitful this year. No matter the weight, all of them carries great hope for health. The ten-pound tomato draw drawn by the Iron Tiege Garden helped the event to its peak. The final tomato competition attracted 20 participants to compete for registration. The rank is no longer important, everyone wants to taste fresh and delicious tomatoes!

Gourmet food is essential for all ACA activities. Specialties such as Mooncake, Chinese Crepe , Rougamo , C hiffon cake, Artemisia Rice Ball , Papaya Tremella Soup, Steamed Cold Noodles, Soy Sauce Braise, Soy Milk etc. will satisfy everyone's taste buds on the spot.

健康是一条大道，我们一直在不断前进。美华健康园艺日感谢如此多的热心人士的积极支持，也感谢所有来到现场参加活动的朋友们对美华活动一如既往的支持。让此次活动能够如此成功，如此丰富多彩。在此，美华协会还要特别感谢本次活动参加的所有员工，义工，个人，团体及所有商家企业。健康之路不停歇，我们期待明年再和大家再次见面。
