Thank you to everyone who came to Curriculum Night on Wednesday. I hope you found the time informative and beneficial.
On Thursday show your pride in the Chicago Bears by wearing Bears apparel to school as the team begins the regular season. Let’s make sure we outnumber the Packer fans. Have a great holiday weekend!

It's time to sign up for band! Students in 4th through 8th grade are invited to participate in band.
Beginning students can participate in a 4 week trial of all band instruments with no obligation to continue after the four weeks. If your student signs up for band, he/she will receive a private lesson during the school day. Your student will also be eligible for the school band and one of three levels of the popular Monday Night Band program at Walther: a fun, relaxed, energized evening of playing as a group with friends from 13 other schools! In addition, your student will reap the other benefits of an instrumental music education: A sharper memory to help develop the abstract reasoning skills he/she needs for advanced math and science, stronger social skills, new friendships, teamwork, leadership, confidence, patience, higher self-esteem, and better time management skills.
Contact Julie Bernier with questions or for info on how to sign up at

Walk with Grace
is Grace Lutheran School’s annual walk-a-thon fundraiser. This year the event is
Friday, October 4
th
, so it is right around the corner. You should have all received a pack of information from your messenger (or youngest) child on Tuesday, heard about it at Curriculum Night and hopefully read about it in the new
The Viking Voice
newsletter. If you didn’t receive a packet, you can pick one up at the front desk or click on the link below. This packet includes ways to raise money as well as offers sponsorship opportunities to help with the overhead costs so that all funds raised can go directly back to the school and our students.
The money we raise through this event helps support our educational programs, quality instructors, strong arts programs and faith formation.
Along with raising funds for the school, we also include a service component to the event. We are so proud that our 8
th
graders have gotten involved and came up with a list of very worthy charities. Our school service project this year (which will take place during the week of the walk-a-thon, not the same day) will benefit
Ronald McDonald House Charities
(
www.rmhc.org
). The students (in all grades) were introduced to
Ronald McDonald House Charities
in chapel this past Wednesday, but will be learning more about the organization and hearing a personal account after chapel on Wednesday, September 18th. We encourage all of you to attend if you are able.
This is sure to be a great day; the students are excited and we hope you are too! This is a fun day for the students and teachers, but as with any event – we need help! Please see the following links below for additional information and the ways you can support the event and our school.
