Sunday September 8
Our first Sunday back in the Godly Play classrooms is also our annual ' Get Connected' Sunday, when the whole of St Francis kicks-off our new program year, and re-connects after the summer. Bring the kids, and enjoy BBQ and bouncy house after 10 a.m. worship.

Teen Youth Groups - 2019-2020 Session Start
Sunday, September 8, 4 - 6 pm Youth Room
Our first Youth Group session for the 2019-2020 school year will be Sunday, September 8, 2019. We will meet from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in the Parish Hall Youth Room. (This year, all Youth Group sessions will be on Sunday afternoons from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.) Mark this on your calendars—more news about our first session to come. Blessing of the Backpacks
Also on Sunday, September 8, we will be Blessing Backpacks during our 10:00am worship. All students are encouraged to bring their school backpacks to receive a blessing. Please reach out to me any time to discuss Youth Group this coming year. Peace! Wayne Hastings, 901-219-6564.
I need You! - to Volunteer for Youth Group!
St. Francis needs a few volunteers to assist with our youth group ministry. You can assist with youth group if you are an adult (18+) or a parent whose children have aged out of our youth group program. Can You Donate a Dryer?
St. Luke's Breakfast and Showers Program is looking for a used gas clothes dryer in good condition to help with the washing and drying of towels. If you have one, or know someone who does, please email Gayle Taylor. We can arrange for pick-up.
Antique Show Results!
The final numbers are in and the Antiques Show netted just over $26,000 !!! Thank you to all who gave so much of their time and talents to make this years Show another outstanding success! A check for the initial pledge of $10,000 has already been given to the parish. The ECW will be deciding soon how to distribute the rest of the proceeds which will benefit all aspects of St. Francis and many outreach programs. Thank you and God Bless! A Men's Corner: Connecting With Other Men at St. Francis
Wednesday, September 11, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at The Corner Bakery, 1868 S. Pacific Coast Hwy, Redondo Beach .
Rev. Peter Huang and Canon Hank Gatlin will host this monthly fellowship time for men. Come connect with other men at St. Francis, join in each other's spiritual journey over a meal or cup of coffee. Let us know if you can join us—or just stop by!
Sages on the Move – Docent Tour of Drum Barracks
Thursday, September 12 th
Join us for this fascinating Docent-led tour of the California and National Historic Landmark , The Drum Barracks , which served as Union Army Headquarters for Southern California and the Arizona Territory from 1861-1871. Meet at the Barracks ( 1052 N. Banning Blvd, Wilmington, CA. 90744 ; 310-548-7509) at 09:55 a.m. for our 10:00 a.m. tour. $4 per person. Please sign up in the church office and indicate if you would like to take part in a carpool as driver or passenger, and if there is interest, those who want to carpool can meet at the church (time to be determined). The first floor of the Drum Barracks is handicapped accessible. The second floor is not, but there is a movie of the second floor for those who choose not to climb the stairs. Emergency Preparedness
Workshop—Sunday, September 15th at 11:30 a.m.
The Vestry Safety and Security Committee has been working to keep our parishioners informed in the event of an emergency. We will review a new “ In Case of Emergency” card which will be in each pew as a quick reference in the event of a Fire, Earthquake, Medical Emergency, Violent Outburst etc. The Safety Committee will also facilitate the training of ushers and other interested parishioners in leadership in case of an Emergency.
Ongoing Spiritual Groups
Meditation Group - we’re back! Thursday Mornings, 9:30—10:30 a.m. in the Nason Prayer Chapel in the main sanctuary. No charge.
Yoga - Temporarily on hiatus. Contact Jill Lynch for more info.
