Major Research Instrumentation Program serves to increase access to multi-user scientific and engineering instrumentation for research and research training. An award supports the acquisition or development of a multi-user research instrument that is too costly and/or not appropriate for support through other NSF programs.
The American Association for the Advancement of Science
Science and Technology Policy Fellowships
provide opportunities to outstanding scientists and engineers to learn first-hand about policymaking and contribute their knowledge and analytical skills in the policy realm.

Another record year for K-State sponsored research
|
|
K-State researchers garnered more than $173M in sponsored research funding in FY 2019, continuing a trend of increases in recent years. Both the number of awards and total award amount has increased. This reflects similar increases in proposal activity over the period FY 2016-2019.
|
|
The mean award size has increased slightly across the period, from $97K to $112K; with the number of large awards (>$1M) remaining relatively constant.
The awards profile also shows that the number of research sponsors has increased over the four year period from 209 to 259, with a steady number of new sponsors (mean = 76) each year. More K-Staters are getting awards as well, with a mean of 91 new researchers winning awards each year, despite the total number of unique researchers remaining relatively steady.

Cayuse SP Research Administration System
|
|
As of July 1, 2019, the K-State research community is using Cayuse Sponsored Projects, or Cayuse SP, research administration system. Cayuse SP is a comprehensive grants management system and includes tracking of sponsored projects from start to finish as well as review and evaluation. Our implementation team was able to successfully load all active sponsored projects into the system, including both pending proposals and awarded projects.
This change has allowed our central offices to decommission a handful of outdated systems as well as to streamline current processes and migrate to a paperless environment. With change comes growing pains, but we appreciate the campus research community’s support and dedication to making this a universitywide system.

These positions are responsible for all aspects of preaward research administration with a specialty focus on grant and contract development with emphasis on international subaward agreements and prime contracts, review and negotiation for such issues as intellectual property rights, insurance, liability, indemnification, foreign currency issues, consistency with federal and state laws, regulations and university policies.
