The Presbyark Update
Keeping the Presbytery of Arkansas informed.
November 19, 2020
A Special Message
In the midst of a pandemic, it is difficult enough just making wise decisions for ourselves and our family, but, as pastors and church leadership, we are also tasked with making wise decisions for the whole of our congregations. Our general presbyter, Stewart Smith addresses these issues in his article, Let Us Not Grow Weary In Doing What Is Right.

Distinguished Alum Awards
Our own Stephen Hancock was recently honored with a Distinguished Alum award. This award is given to graduates of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary who have made a lasting impact on the Church and society through outstanding professional, volunteer, or philanthropic accomplishments; and/or who have advanced the Seminary’s mission, thereby enhancing Louisville Seminary’s impact on the Church and future generations of students.

The virtual celebration took place Friday, November 13, but you can view it now by Clicking Here.
Matthew 25: A Bold Vision
As we continue in this world of virtual and digital, the Matthew 25 vision continues to connect and engage. Click Here to learn about a recorded worship service based on the Matthew 25 vision being created by the leadership of the PC(USA) for congregations to use.

You will also be able to view a 30-second video created by The Presbyterian Mission Agency designed to raise awareness of the structural or institutional bias against people of color within the law enforcement and criminal justice systems.

MissionInsite:
Understanding The Community You Serve
MissionInsite (https://missioninsite.com/) is a demographic tool for churches to explore their neighborhoods and better shape their ministry and mission.  Email or call Carol Clark (cbclark05@aol.com or 501- 563-6279) to help get you registered.

If you let her know, Carol can email you a 'Quick-Insite' report so that you can see a sample report about the area of your church. The cost to your church is nothing - just the time it takes to pour a coffee and settle in to explore so many things about your church's area.
Prayer Request For Honduras
Be in prayer for our brothers and sisters in Honduras. On November 3, 2020 they were hit by Hurricane Eta, a category 4 hurricane, which left at least 40,000 people homeless, more than 40 dead and many more missing, and over 1,700,000 affected. This week Honduras was hit again, this time by Hurricane Iota, a category 5 hurricane, on November 16. The extent of additional loss of life and damage has not been calculated yet. Honduras is one of the poorest nations in the western hemisphere, second only to Haiti. Governmental corruption makes it difficult for the people of Honduras to receive services that they so desperately need. Many parts of the country have been on lock-down since March due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the official number of COVID-19 cases documented at 101,000 and deaths at 2,780, but it is assumed by the citizens that the numbers are much higher as medical care is almost non-existent. The Presbytery of Arkansas has assisted our brothers and sisters of the Presbytery of Honduras in their distribution of food, and together with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and our sister presbyteries in the U.S.A. we will continue to do so. But they need our prayers as well.
