Greetings Daves Avenue Families,
During our monthly Wednesday Wave this morning, 5th grade students and staff spoke about the character trait of acceptance. Positive anticipated outcomes for our Cool Cats include:
- More inclusive of peers in play and conversation
- Greater acceptance of another’s appearance, culture and preferences
- A noteworthy decrease in teasing or making fun of others
Please take time to ask your child what acceptance means to them and how they plan to help make a positive difference at school and in the community. Congratulations to Antonio, Ford, Jonah, Isabella and Diego for being our lucky PAWS Club March recipients.

I am hopeful that you have seen the communications from our District Administration and District Nurse in light of the monitoring of Coronavirus. As your Principal, I can assure you that the health and wellness of students is my top priority. Remember, please continue to take precautions in effort to prevent the spread of all infectious diseases.
To promote a healthy campus, please keep children home if they have:
- fever of 100.0 or higher
- nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- sore throat
- difficulty swallowing
- unusually red, itchy, watery, or burning eyes
- body chills
- or generally feel ill
If your child is feeling under the weather, please err on the side of caution and keep them home. We will work with you to support assignments and additional time to complete work as needed. Our District is continuing to monitor updates from the
Center for Disease Control
and
Santa Clara County Office of Education
regarding the Novel Coronavirus. If you have any health–related questions, you can reach out to our District Nurse, Sheila McConville, at
smcconville@lgusd.org
