and so We begin!
Dear Holy Families!

Here are some of my favorite Scriptures about the Word of God and how precious and beautiful it is!
It is God's love letter to us!
This year we will be spending the whole year reading from God's Word and listening to what He is saying to us! Personally. We may read the same words, but God speaks to each of us - as if there is only one of us!
You will hear God speaking to your heart! Your Children will hear God speaking to their hearts! Enjoy this precious time with your families growing to know God in a more intimate way!

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. - Hebrews 4:12
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Luke 11:28
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4

Blessings of God's abundant love, peace and joy be yours as we begin this year of Faith Formation!!!

P.S. - If you haven't received your materials yet, know that they are on the way! By next Tuesday everyone should have what they need! Sorry for the delay!!!

1st Week Lesson -
complete sometime between 9/27 - 10/3

#1 - Create a prayer space somewhere in your home!
Why would you need a prayer space in your home? Watch this video:

#2. - What is the Bible All about, anyway?

The Bible is God's Love Letter to us! Even though everyone of us reads from the Bible, God speaks to each of us in our hearts, we hear different meanings of God's words. Sometimes He comforts us when we are sad, sometimes He encourages us when we are anxious or scared, sometimes He reminds us to make better choices.
Even though we can read or hear Scripture over and over, we are never in the same space, so it is always ALIVE and meaningful to our lives today!

Explore your Bible
Check out pages in front of the Bible 1-17 and go towards the back 1977 to the end.
See if you can find these in the Bible:
  • What page did you find the Catholic Prayers?
  • What page did you find that the Bible is like a Library of books?
  • What page did you find maps of ancient times?
  • What page showed you how to look up a Bible passage?
  • Can you find the first page of the Old Testament?
  • Can you find the first page of the New Testament?
  • Where would you find the Gospels? Can you name all 4 gospels?
  • What is different about the Gospels - than the other new testament books?
  • Where would you find the story of Adam and Eve?
  • Can you find the story of Jesus is the Good Shepherd - John 10:1-18?

How did you do? I bet you did GREAT!

That's all you need to do this week!

For extra credit: Try to read a scripture every day - right before you go to bed!
Let God's words fill your mind before you go to sleep!!!

Our 2nd Week Lesson for RE is for us as Adults - parents and catechists - to attend this Parish Mission. Meet Fr. Albert Haase, OFM at all masses on October 3 & 4th.
Attend his hour long talks on Monday - October 5, Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7th - either live or on-line live streamed. (so you can watch it at your convenience or even listen to it over and over!!! - He is a wise man!)

- Take some time to be filled with the Spirit before we begin our weekly lessons. Treat this as a RETREAT!
Fr. Albert is a wonderful, engaging speaker - You will be glad you took this time for your soul!

St. Patrick Parish Mission with Fr. Albert Haase, OFM
What is a Parish Mission? Some time for us to come together at the parish or at home via live-stream to PRAY as a community and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Over 3 nights, Fr. Albert Haase, OFM, will lead us in a parish mission entitled SIGNED AND SEALED WITH THE CROSS. We will explore the identity of our God proclaimed in the ancient gesture of being signed with a cross. We will also explore the challenges and responsibilities we accept when we seal our lives with the sign of our salvation.

This year Religious Education will look a little different, due to COVID-19.

Our desire was to create a way for our families to:
  • Grow in the transforming love of God by understanding and living the Catholic Faith.
  • Keep it safe for your whole family.
  • Keep it simple for your family, knowing you are dealing with so many other changes with school and work.

We are still using St. Mary Press DISCOVER program with the Catholic Children's Bible.
  • Option 1: Families use the Bible Stories weekly - reading scripture and answering the questions. (There are also easy to follow Parent Guides.)
  • Option 2: Children complete e-learning Faith modules (20 minute lessons ) and families have a discussion at dinner.
  • All families will be sharing faith at home.
  • You will be assigned a Catechist who will contact you once a month (or as often as you need them) to check in with you and make sure things are going ok.
  • You will also connect monthly with 5-6 other parents and me (Nancy Longo) to help each other walk this journey. Parents helping parents. None of us has it all together, but together we can succeed!

Help is still needed: We need parents to step up and volunteer to walk with other parents as a Catechist.
You will receive free training and support.

If you would like to volunteer, please sign up!
