Peri Park is Open!
It's been a long road to get here but we are happy to announce that the new structures are installed and the park is open. The official ribbon cutting was last Saturday, a small group gathered to honor this special moment. A huge thank you to the Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC) for their dedication to this project and to the Town Council for supporting the process every step of the way.
Our community will benefit for years to come as kids play on the new structures in this magical park!

You can still support the park and show your Peri Park pride by purchasing tees and totes!
Please note that two existing play structures needed to be temporarily removed in order to accommodate the new structures. The removed structures will be relocated to another area in the park in the future

Are Parklets the Future of Outdoor Dining and Social Space in Fairfax?
As part of an economic support program for local businesses, the town has waived the permit fees and design review process typically associated with the use of outdoor public spaces.
Many communities around the country are hoping to leverage the temporary use of outdoor public spaces, particularly the use of public parking, to create Parklets.
Parklets reflect the diversity and creativity of the people and organizations who sponsor and design them. They also reflect a City or Town's commitment to encouraging walking and bicycling, which strengthen our communities.
Join the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce for a presentation by John Bela, Fairfax resident, creator of Park(ing) Day and some of the first Parklets in San Francisco. A moderated discussion will follow.

Redwood Clean Up in Peri Park
Sunday, May 2nd
10am to noon
Peri Park Redwood Grove
Please join the Fairfax Volunteers and Ray Moritz, our local tree expert, for an outdoor volunteer project in Peri Park. Ray will show us how to clear small growths around the redwoods in the park and improve the trees' overall health. We had about eight volunteers for the first day, and enjoyed the out of doors together, while improving Peri Park.
Each person is responsible for their own cutting tools and protective equipment. They should be prepared to be working on their knees.
Ray recommends:
- Knee pads or something soft to kneel on.
- Work gloves, like "gardening gloves" or construction gloves.
- Eye protection.
- A full water bottle
- a face mask
- Hand shears
- loppers
- a small hand rake or something to pull pieces out of the basal sprout clump
- a small handsaw for cutting brush

Lose Single-Use, Choose ReUseful!
Nowadays, there are a whole lot of items – such as plastic bottles, utensils and wrap – that are designed to be used once and then thrown “away.” That may feel convenient, but there is a long-term cost. Many items cannot be recycled easily and those that can be recycled don’t always make it into the recycling cart. The result: litter, plastic pollution and wasted resources.
But there are useful, reusable solutions that look and feel better and are often healthier to use than plastic alternatives. Let Zero Waste Marin’s ReUseful campaign inspire you! Learn some easy ways to cut down on throw-away plastic at https://zerowastemarin.org/reuseful.
