Dear REACH Community,
The REACH team is extremely proud of the work we’ve done in 2020 to support those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we couldn't have done it without you. As you may know, we transitioned to virtual care in March 2020 and are supporting more patients via telehealth than ever before. Since this transition, we have been able to provide hundreds of additional visits each month.
Throughout our region and the country, the opioid crisis continues to escalate, with higher overdose rates, now compounded with the COVID-19 crisis. Early on in the pandemic, REACH began providing outreach services to people experiencing homelessness or near-homelessness, through a community health worker in the field who is equipped with a tablet that enables individuals to be connected to REACH providers remotely. REACH has helped dozens of extremely vulnerable people, literally meeting them where they are, in the midst of the crisis. Our doors remain open to serve individuals in person as well, when virtual care is not adequate to meet patient needs.
Can you imagine the constant pain and daily fight of experiencing homelessness and chronic health conditions during a worldwide pandemic? Our patients need you.
REACH Medical is in the process of transitioning to become a licensed provider under the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) in New York State. This licensure will improve our financial sustainability and allow us to treat significantly more patients moving forward, but this transition has proven to be extremely challenging for REACH and has created additional financial strain. We need the help of our community to meet our 2020 fiscal goals and to ensure that we start 2021 in a strong position to enhance and expand our work.
