Moonlit Movie 'Free Birds' at Jaco Pastorius Park
This Evening: Friday, November 15, 2019

This evening's featured movie is "Free Birds," a 2013 American 3D computer-animated comedy film about two turkeys traveling back in time to prevent Thanksgiving. Children's activities begin at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 7 p.m. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and the entire family to enjoy the children's activities and Moonlight movie at Jaco Pastorius Park, 4000 N. Dixie Highway. Concessions sold by Northeast Little League. Next month's Moonlit Movie feature is "The Grinch" on December 13. Art Workshop for Children & Families
Oakland Park Library This Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library will hold a free "Little Picasso's Guided Art Workshop" for children, teens, and families this Saturday, November 16 , at 2 p.m. Attendees will follow along to paint a vibrant autumn scene. This is a beginner-friendly art class, and prior painting experience isn't necessary. All supplies will be provided.  Call 954-630-4372 for more information .
Library Hosts Interactive Food Demo November 19

The Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library welcomes the return of Chef Ray Newlands, who will present an interactive culinary demonstration on Tuesday, November 19 , from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The chef will demonstrate how to make healthy fruit and dairy shakes. Attendees will have the opportunity to create their own shake. Pre-registration is required for this program, which is for ages 18 and above. City Commission Meeting Wednesday, November 20
 
The City Commission meeting agenda for Wednesday, November 20 , is posted to the City’s homepage under “View Meetings and Agendas.” Residents can attend the 6:30 p.m. meeting at City Hall (3650 NE 12 Avenue) or view via the City’s live web streaming link, to keep informed with what is going on in the community. Oaths will be administered to the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Commissioner for the 2019-2020 Commission Session. The City Commission agenda includes a presentation from the Broward School Board on Northeast High School and a proclamation for World AIDS Day (December 1, 2019).
Community Meeting: 'Building Our 2nd Century' December 5 at Collins Community Center

Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend the December 5 community meeting to help Oakland Park "Build Our 2nd Century." The community meeting takes place at Collins Community Center at 6 p.m. and will provide another opportunity to give meaningful input on the City Park Master Plan and Design Guidelines. The previous meeting on October 30 reviewed the concepts for the Facilities Design Guidelines . The presentation is posted to the City's website and can be viewed here .
