The weeks immediately before and after Thanksgiving are vital to a student's success. I cannot stress enough the importance of staying on top of grades this marking period. Semester 1 is almost complete, but students can still seize opportunities for grade improvement. This week we are releasing student progress reports for the second quarter. If you have a child attending Lake Nona, please review their results with them as soon as possible. We offer several tutoring options for our Knights and we encourage them to take advantage of any help they might need.
Our Knights travel to Walker Middle School on Wednesday to close out the regular volleyball season (below). Both teams currently have
4-2 winning records and we wish them the very best of luck vs. the Walker Vikings. Go Knights!

Final week of the regular volleyball season lies ahead . . .
This past week our volleyball teams had their last two home games of the regular season. They put on a tremendous display in front of their home crowd as both teams defeated Freedom Middle on Monday and South Creek Middle on Wednesday! Both teams now have a winning record of 4-2 as they go into their last games of the regular season. We will be facing Walker Middle School on Wednesday, November 20th with the girls starting first at 5pm, immediately followed by our gentlemen.
Huge shot out and thank you to 7th grader Jose Cruz who did an exceptional job singing the national anthem on Wednesday for 8th grade night (below)!

LNMS Science and Engineering Fair
|
|
The LNMS Science Club sponsored by Dr. Smouse, 8th grade Physical Science Honors teacher, was busy Friday morning checking in science fair projects in the Media Center. These projects will be judged and then move to the next round of competition at the Dr. Nelson Ying Orange County Science Exposition.
Students must learn how to apply their existing abilities to new areas, as well as learn many new skills. A science fair project can involve reading, logical thinking, writing, grammar and spelling, math, statistics and data analysis, computer science, and graphic arts, as well as scientific methodology. If a student participates in a formal competition, then they will also practice public speaking, and learn how to explain and defend their work in front of a panel of judges.
Community footnote: Above and below we have included several student science projects as examples to show the quality of their topics, layouts, research and adherence to the scientific method. All of the Knights submitting projects worked very hard conducting their research and as these images show, invested a great deal of time in their designs. Fine work Knights!

As seen above, our Knights have prepared some impressive science fair projects for competition. In terms of the big picture, the demand for STEM jobs in the USA is exploding as reported by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Making sense of the chart: This chart is from the U.S. Department of Labor (Sept. 2019) and provides projections for both STEM type jobs and non STEM jobs from 2018 to 2028. STEM outpaces other types of jobs as a group both in terms of growth and annual wages paid.

8th Grade Baby Photo Request

Don't be left out of the yearbook . . .
This year, we would like to feature the eighth graders' baby photos at the 8th Grade Formal and as part of the 2020 yearbook. In the yearbook, we are planning to include a feature page "looking back" at the eighth graders as babies. Email your cutest baby photo with your child's name to: [email protected] Please submit your photos by December 19th, 2019.
So as not to embarrass students, please do NOT submit any photos including nudity (i.e. bath time photos, toilet time photos, bathing suit photos).

 Truth is, most people just go with the flow; they stick with the flock. Well, that's up to you. The choice is yours, to be a follower and get what's given. Or you can step up and take what's yours.
If you are a regular reader of our Kingdom's Chronicle, including this week, you will notice students engaged in all types of activities from A to Z. This includes academics, sports, theatre, volunteerism, singing, art and on and on. In terms of narrowing down some of your passions and goals, start first by making a list. To get your creative juices flowing, here are some random suggestions:
