Youth and Family Ministries -
Unity of Eau Claire
Greetings!
The Youth and Family Ministries program is evolving yet again. I recently learned more about the origin story of Unity of Eau Claire, and in particular about how the youth program began - thank you, Eileen! In the beginning... members were meeting in a church basement and watching videos of other Unity congregation's services. They soon felt a need for a physical presence in Eau Claire so that the kids would have a place to learn and grow. This provided the impetus to take our Unity church to the next level. Truly, this Unity of Eau Claire church was created for the children.
Since then, we have had a thriving children's, then youth program coordinated by the ever dedicated Duree Thatcher, Elizabeth Gerard, and Marnie Hersrud. As those youth have grown older and moved on, we have started a new generation of Kids of Unity.
New developments include the overall coordination of the KOU, Uniteens, and YOU passing to Kate (Zegarowicz Leeson). Duree will continue to assist the current YOU members to access the shared Zoom meetings that Rev. Ray shared with her, as their needs and wishes evolve.
Some ideas for the future of our youth program include establishing an inviting family participation program. For example, we could offer family events such as parent-KOUer activities, classes on how to keep kids safe with technology, how to talk to kids about God, ways to incorporate Unity teachings in daily life, etc. We need to make sure that we are supporting parents and families, not just asking them for help.
This year, we are excited to have five children in our KOU program! KOU in person meetings started on Sunday, August 30. KOU will be held outside, using social distancing, masks, and individual supplies.
Stay safe, and absorb the Energy of Source in every moment. Kate

Did you know?
Even though you have been a board member of the Unity Board of Trustees in the past you can be a member of the Board again. I want to share my experience of becoming a Board member at Unity. I came to Unity through a friend and member in 2000. I was content to attend Sunday service and a few classes, learning more about Unity and developing friendships with other members. I joined a few ministry teams which helped me to learn more about the 'business' of Unity. Yes, we are a business in the sense that we need an income and the ability to manage the income to be a viable Unity community. Did I ever think I would be on the Board of Trustees in my first years at Unity? No. Did I ever think I would be President? Absolutely not. But life experiences and circumstances change. There were members at Unity that encouraged me to be on the board and believed that I would be an asset to the Board. When I got to the point in my life when I could give the time I felt I needed to be on the Board of Trustees I said yes. I am honored to be a part of this Board. Feeling productive, providing sacred service and developing deeper friendships as a Board member has been a positive aspect in my life. Personally, I want to see Unity thrive, I want to share with others what we at Unity have and love, so they too can experience what we have to offer at Unity. Please consider becoming a Unity Board of Trustees member. We the members of the Board of Trustees would love to talk with you if you have an interest in becoming a Board member and want more information about the position. Sue Carlson @ 715-308-4344 or email sue.carlson101@ gmail.com. If you would like to talk with other Board members ask Timothy for their contact information. Sue Carlson, President of the Board of Trustees

Sunday Worship Service
You walk into the Unity building and a beautiful Sunday service unfolds. Do you ever wonder how this comes to fruition? It doesn't just happen. There are many Unity members who work to make our service a reality. A Minister/speaker is present, a worship leader, music, a greeter and others you don't see that are part of the service.
I want to acknowledge our teams. Timothy is the team lead who makes sure we have a worship leader present. Kathy Johns is our music director who brings instrumental and vocalists for the service, Marnie is our team lead for greeters. Dale Staebell is our lead for livestreaming our service.Sherri Olson is our team lead for money counters. Timothy, our administrative coordinator, not only leads teams but also schedules our Ministers/speakers and provides our slides. I thank these team leaders and the members of their teams who make our Sunday services a spiritually uplifting experience.
I invite you to get to know these amazing team leads and the people on their teams so you too can reach out and say thanks.
