Dear Residents:
Township Council and I are excited to announce that Restaurant Week will begin this weekend!
Our goal this year is to showcase Cherry Hill’s vibrant and diverse restaurant community by offering patrons a specially priced menu for both take-out and outdoor dine-in options. Participating restaurants have the choice of offering a 3-course dinner menu for $25, $35 or $40. Several restaurants will also offer a 2-course lunch menu for $15 or $20.
Restaurant Week will feature nine days of incredible deals at some of Cherry Hill's finest eateries from Saturday, August 8 to Saturday, August 16, 2020. For a list of participating restaurants and for additional information, please check our website.
We hope you will support Cherry Hill’s restaurants by participating in this year’s Restaurant Week!
As always, please continue to stay safe and be well.
Sincerely,

Township Offers Special Yard Waste Collection for Storm Debris
|
|
|
In light of the significant clean-up remaining across town, Mayor Susan Shin Angulo and the Department of Public Works have announced special expanded services to help residents dispose of the higher volume of storm-related debris and yard waste. Until Friday, August 14 - residents can call the Department of Public Works to schedule a special storm-related yard waste collection.
During this period, normal weight and bundling restrictions will be relaxed, and Township personnel will collect any yard debris residents can move to the curb. Please note: We cannot accommodate requests to move trees or large limbs from private property. We will only collect debris that has been placed at the curb, and cut to a size that can be handled by one person.
Residents must call (856) 424-4422 to schedule a collection. Pickups will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis; due to the possibility of high call volume, crews may take several days to respond to your request. No requests will be considered after Friday, August 14 at 5:00 p.m. Please note that yard-waste that meets our standard weight and bundling guidelines (cut to 4-foot lengths and placed in bundles no more than 50 lbs. each) may still be placed curbside for standard weekly collection.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we attempt to help ease clean-up efforts. For questions or concerns, or to schedule a pickup, call the Department of Public Works at (856) 424-4422

10th Anniversary of the Cherry Hill Trails Program – Highlighting the Thomas Paine Trails
|
|
|
The Cherry Hill Environmental Board is marking the 10th Anniversary of the Cherry Hill Trails Program. Each month, one of the 11 trail locations will be highlighted. This month it is the Thomas Paine Trails.
The Thomas Paine Trails are the newest location in the Cherry Hill Trails Program system. Completed in the winter of 2020, its trailhead, marked by an Eagle Scout-erected kiosk, is located on Fountain Court off Crooked Lane on the West side of the township. It is an easy half mile collection of color coded (4) trails that wander through the forest and the wooded wetlands of the South Branch of the Pennsauken Creek bottoms. The trail’s wooden plankways make walking the marshy area easy and viewing the creek and wetlands a clean adventure! There is a large patch of Skunk Cabbage, several species of ferns, and other wetland-loving trees and plants. Above the wooded wetlands on drier ground the trails feature a number of native plants including Virginia Creeper and Greenbriar, along with native trees like Red Maple, Red Oak and American Beech. As you hike listen for the many species of birds offering a concert of calls.
As part of the 10th Anniversary, you can walk or bike trails at 11 locations and participate in the Cherry Hill Trails Challenge. A Challenge Passport is available on the Cherry Hill website and at the Recreation Department in Town Hall, when it reopens. Challenge requirements are noted on the back of the Passport as are the prizes available to those completing all requirements at three different levels; Bronze, Silver and Gold. Take the Challenge and enjoy all the trails, solitude and nature that the Cherry Hill Trails have to offer. Check out all the trails on our website.

Anti-Fraud Toolkit for Seniors
Senior citizens – individuals 60 and over - are targeted more frequently by financial fraud and scams than any other age group. Today's seniors are prime targets of fraudsters for several reasons, starting with their financial assets. Members of their generation are most likely to have a substantial "nest egg," own their homes, or have excellent credit. Moreover, seniors are less likely to report a fraud, either because they don't know who to report it to, are too ashamed at having been scammed, or don't know they have been victimized. But one of the biggest reasons seniors fall prey to fraudsters is that they are simply less likely to be aware of the latest scams making their way across the nation and around the state. The "Anti-Fraud Toolkit" was designed to provide senior citizens with the information they need to recognize and avoid scams. Those who work with seniors every day – social workers, caretakers, staff at senior centers, and local and county divisions of aging – are encouraged to download and post this information on bulletin boards at senior centers, retirement homes, and social clubs. The "Anti-Fraud Toolkit" will also be supplemented by regular email fraud alerts to a voluntary network to keep New Jersey's senior citizens abreast of the latest frauds and scams targeting them.
