March Giving Items
March donations are non-perishable items for Easter Baskets. Cash donations are also welcome for purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables. Please leave your donations at the back entrance of the church near the Welcome Center. Thank you for your generosity.
Holy Communion During Lent
The ministry focus during Lent
will be on Holy Communion and
it's place in the United Methodist Church, in Christianity and in our own personal faith journeys. Because this is our Lenten focus, SUMC will be serving Communion on the following Sundays:

March 1st, March 15th, March 29th, and Easter Sunday, April 12th.

As you learn more about Communion, please consider taking a step in the journey by helping serve the elements (bread and juice) at one of these services. If you have an interest, or have questions, please contact Pastor Brody, Ann Uthoff or Carol Crisman. May you have a blessed and Holy Easter season.
New Members Class!
If you are not a member of SUMC and you are ready to explore that option, keep reading. We will meet three times and request that you be at two of the three meetings if you can't make all of them. We will meet new people, learn about SUMC and discern what membership in a church means.

When: March 22nd, 29th and April 5th at 10:10 a.m. (This will take place between the 9:15 and 10:45 services)

Where: Fireside Room behind the sanctuary.

Note: Membership is open to all who are over 18 years old. If you are younger than that, we request you take part in an upcoming confirmation class in order to
become a member.
SUMC Carnival & Pancake Supper
Join us Saturday, April 4th for our Annual Easter Carnival and United Methodist Men's Pancake Supper. For kids PreK through 3rd grade, the Egg Hunt begins at 5:00 p.m. with a Craft, Snack and Story Station from 5:15-6:00. The men's Pancake Supper is from 5:00-7:00.
VBS 2020-June 22-25, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Rocky Railway
Jesus' Power Pulls Us Through
Believe it or not, it's time to
start thinking about VBS. We are in need of lots of volunteers to make this a week the kids will remember. We will need lots of shepherds. These are the people that take their group from station to station throughout the evening. If you are interested or have questions about volunteering, contact Heather Nekola. The VBS volunteer and child sign-up will be online soon. You don't have to have a child to volunteer!
AGC Carry Out Dinner Fundraiser
This month AGC's Carry Out Dinner will be Monday, March 9th. The menu will be Chicken Alfredo with a salad. Dinners may be picked up in the SUMC kitchen between 4:00-6:00. If you would like to preorder a meal please contact Brooke Weber
Fiber Arts Group
There will be a crochet/stitching group, at noon, Sunday March 15th for fiber artists (knitters, crocheters, cross stitchers, etc.) Experienced fiber artists and beginners are all welcome for stitching, fellowship and a bible devotional. Bring a packed lunch and if you want to learn how to crochet,
contact Mariah Jones at 563-340-7306 to find out what items to bring to get started.
Van Roekel Mission Trip
The Van Roekel family is heading to Guatemala for a mission trip over spring break with a group called Impacto Ministries. They would appreciate donations which can be left in a bin on the table by the church doors. If anyone has a larger suitcase with wheels that they are looking to get rid of, those can be used to take the supplies and left there for residents to use for storage. Feel free to contact Tally with any questions you might have at 319-530-1390.

Sunday Fellowship
Food and Fellowship go hand to
glove. Sharing a conversation and
sharing refreshments just make mixing it up in the lobby more fun! We are in need of more food, (to accommodate
a greater number of people) and a
few willing people to serve as hosts, (make/fill the coffee pots, replenish the food, etc). Do you have the gift of hospitality? You could serve the food once a month! Do you love to bake or bring cheese and crackers, fruit, bagels, trail mix, etc., or you could help provide food once a month.  If you are interested, please email Sheila Stepanek or Gina Boebel. We thank all those who share their time and talents for fellowship after and between
services. Look for sign-up sheets in the lobby!

Prairie High School
Grab and Go Pantry
Prairie High School Grab and Go Pantry is always in need of snacks for their students. As a way to help, SUMC is asking for your help by donations of granola bars, fruit snacks, cereal bars, cheese crackers, etc. There is a blue tote in the lobby near the UMW corner for donation items. Collections will be accepted now through April.

Coordinating Our Building Use
Are you needing a place at the church for a committee meeting or event? Please note that ALL scheduling of the building's use must be cleared and scheduled through Julie in the church office. This is not a "permission" issue, but we do need this central location for keeping track of the building's activities (we are thankful to be able to host a growing number of Boy and Girl Scouts this year!). Just drop an email or phone the office (848-7213), so there are no surprises. Thank you!
