National President
Amanda Flener
Happy November! Many of our Auxiliary leaders share wonderful messages in this edition. I hope you take time to read each one. We have a link below that we encourage our members and friends to use and share to purchase Rada Cutlery. Rada has amazing gifts and items for those hard to buy for people on your holiday lists. Proceeds go to our Auxiliary.
This Veteran's Day was quite different than past, instead of shaking hands and giving hugs and in person "Thank You" messages to veterans, I made phone calls, sent texts, and posted messages virtually reaching hundreds via Facebook. It is certainly a year of adapting, improvising, and overcoming.
I hope you will join us on Zoom Thursday evening. PNP Diane Petrini will join us as she gives an update as chair of the Finance Committee. SVP Colleen will give updates on some projects she has in mind and in the works for this year too. If you aren't able to be with us Thursday online or on the phone, I will send out an NEC email update post-meeting.
Please don't ever hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything or have questions. I wish you all a very blessed Thanksgiving. Stay safe and well.
In Patriotism and Service,
Amanda

The year ahead in a “nutshell”
I love to decorate for the Fall months. There are many special days that I love to celebrate; especially, Thanksgiving and Veterans Day. As I began to take decorations out of boxes, I held an ornamental acorn in my hand. That small, yet significant, acorn gave me inspiration for what I wished to share in this month’s General Orders.
The acorn is a simple reminder of what one person can do to cultivate greatness. The tiny acorn produces the majestic and grand oak tree – and with time, the oak tree can produce 100,000 acorns. Then, the process of growth begins again.
This symbology reflects how one member can cultivate relationships and produce future members.
Just like the Oak tree, it may take time to “grow” membership but without cultivation, our Auxiliary will not thrive.
Our team will be busy this year revamping membership brochures, reaching out to Patriot families, and engaging in fellow Veteran Organization activities. Planting seeds in our communities, Units and Departments start with you!
Let us all be inspired by the acorn… “Plant your seed and GROW our Auxiliary."

Helping Our Veterans (HOV)
Department of California - Mask Project
|
|
The Department of California received HOV funds to purchase material printed with the Purple Heart medal to make face masks for Patriots. Units 49, 106, 385 and 750 participated. Even Helen Glass, the 97 year old Martha Washington Recipient from AZ helped out! Read the full report by CLICKING HERE.
Your Department or Unit can request funds too! Each Unit or Department can request a one time grant of up to $250.
Projects done at your Unit level - the grassroots efforts are always the most impactful.
Email National President - Amanda Flener at mophaux@gmail.com or aflener1@gmail.com for questions or pre-approval.

National Junior Vice President
Kay Jo Baucom
November always reminds me of how much I have to be thankful for. It is the season of colorful leaves, dancing around in the wind. The crisp, cool mornings that blend into warm afternoons, only to turn cooler as the sun sets. It is the time to pull out our cold weather gear- get it cleaned up and make sure it still fits!. The typical football season is well underway- only this year is anything but
typical- and I yell at the TV, as if I am in the stands. But perhaps the day in November that touches my heart and soul the most, is Veteran's Day.
It is on Veteran's Day that I am reminded that freedom is not free, that service to one's country is honorable, and that I am privileged to live where so many have protected my rights as a citizen of the United States of America. The significance of this day resonates with so many, as we celebrate the service and sacrifices of our military men and women. As a proud daughter, wife and aunt of veterans, I am thankful for all who have served and are serving today.
A personal mission of mine, is to insure that no veteran is forgotten and that the military service given does not go unrecognized. As an educator, I know firsthand, the importance of sharing the histories of war time and the stories of those who fought, with our youth. Just as our previous generation did for me, I want to help spread the true meaning of Veteran's Day to my children and grandchildren. As we observed this Veteran's Day, it is apparent that patriotic gatherings and recognition services still take place, but on a smaller scale. The importance is not diminished however and the pride in service is undeniably still strong. Thanksgiving is fitting as the next "big day" for I am truly thankful for our Patriots, my MOPHA family, and all those unnamed who serve others before self. I applaud our National President, Amanda Flener, for her goal of thanking all military personnel for their service. Just a few words with huge meaning!
Join me and make it a personal goal to speak to each veteran you may encounter and thank him/her for their service. The words touch their souls but also touch mine. Every day in November, I am finding a word that expresses thanks in some form- know that family, for me, also means each of you and those you hold closest in your hearts. May God
continue to guide and direct, bless and protect each of us and those who serve daily to protect us. This Thanksgiving will be -I hope- delightful though different, for we continue to serve others who first served us.
Holding you all in my heart,
Kay Jo

National Chaplain

Serving Humbly In Love
It is always an incredible privilege to pray on behalf of others, to stand before the Auxiliary in God’s name to ask His blessings, encouragement and strength upon them. Important as that is, there are many more ways a chaplain serves in a department.
Each appointed Chaplain brings his/her personal faith and care for the welfare of the Veterans and their families.
As we celebrated Veterans Day, November 11, I hope we all took the time out of our lives to say a prayer and salute the men and woman serving our country, and recognize those who have served and have made the ultimate sacrifice and acknowledge those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, our fallen heroes who died on the ”Field of Honor”.
Prayer
OH, give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the people. Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him. Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face evenmore.
Remember His marvelous work which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth. Amen
