A Message from Mr. Mihalyo

Dear StMM Families,

Happy New Year! Welcome back to school! I pray everyone’s break was restful and relaxing for everyone. As we begin 2022, I am looking forward to a great year ahead for our community.

Our week started with a 2-hour delay with icy conditions around our area. The communication we use for notifying parents of these types of situations includes a text message alert, parent call (which I included in the weekly callout due to the timing), social media, and WRAL. If you did not receive a text message, please check the telephone numbers listed in our RenWeb system by logging onto your family portal.

Over the Christmas break, our school had some additional renovations completed that have really made the school look great. One of our priorities is maintaining our buildings and grounds for the long term benefits of our school and community. The interior hallways and offices had all the lighting replaced with LED lights, replacing many fixtures that were no longer working properly with a more energy efficient, brighter light.

Our Media Center is also getting some long overdue updating, with fresh paint, carpeting, and a new wall to separate the parish offices from the Media Center. The updates look fantastic and create a positive, wonderful learning environment for our students.

The end of the first semester is scheduled for next Friday, January 14th. This is a great time to check RenWeb and make sure your child has all missing work turned in and tests/quizzes made up.

This day is also an early release day for our students. The dismissal schedule will be as follows:

11:15am - PK students

11:30am - Grades K-4 (through the inner circle of carpool as normal)

11:45am - Grades 5-8 (through the outer circle of carpool as normal)

For our 5-8 families, we ask you please come as close to 11:45am as possible to allow the earlier traffic to clear the parking lots. By coming too soon, it will back up the line onto Apex Barbecue and delay carpool being completed on time. Thank you in advance for your help!

RE-ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN

Re-enrollment for the 2022-23 school year is now open! Simply login to RenWeb to complete your child's re-enrollment. New this year, you can re-enroll right from your phone by using the new StMM app. Please note, after completing re-enrollment, you should receive an email from Lydia Binanay. WINTER I CLUBS START NEXT WEEK

Winter I clubs begin the week of January 10th. There's still time to sign up! Register and find more detailed information on our website and online school calendar. Please note that space is limited for each club and will be honored on a "first come, first served" basis.

We are also pleased to announce that information on 2022 summer camps is coming soon! Be sure to check the newsletter for details in the next few weeks.

PSO NEWS

Monarch Mondays

Happy New Year from the PSO! The first Monarch Monday of 2022 will be Monday, January 10th, when students may wear their black Monarch Mondays shirts with the bottoms of their choice, following the school's guidelines. If your student isn't participating in Monarch Mondays, they wear their regular uniform that day.

Save the Date - Hoops for Hunger

The annual Hoops for Hunger basketball games for the boys' and girls' varsity teams return to StMM on Friday, January 21st. Plan to cheer on your Monarchs as they play St. Michael and to support a local charity in the process. More details to come in the newsletter.

SPRING SPORTS SIGN UPS

Sign ups for spring sports grades 6-8 will take place in homerooms this week. This spring we are hoping to offer boys baseball, boys lacrosse, girls soccer, girls softball, girls lacrosse, and co-ed golf. If your child is unable to sign up in homeroom, please be sure to contact our Athletic Director, Joel Groelle.

Additionally, if you are interested in coaching boys lacrosse, please contact our Athletic Director, Joel Groelle. We are in need of a coach.
