MAY 2019
Spring Sale Celebration
This year our Spring Sale was from May 2nd-4th. Our sale was a bit later that usual with the fun Easter weekend and Master's Weekend that the month of April brought.

In celebration of the Spring Sales, the retail team enjoyed food and drinks at a private showing of Disney's live action remake of Aladdin on May 23rd at Beechwood Cinemas! Thank you to everyone who weighed in on our survey to choose which movie we would see, Aladdin was the perfect choice, with singing performances by our own staff to boot! A big thank you to everyone who attended the event and we missed those that couldn't make it out! We cannot wait for the next fun retail sale celebration!
Designer Event
We hosted our Designer Event on May 9th at our Athens showroom! We chatted with Breckyn Alexander, BMA at Home & BMA Designs, about how to work through any hurdles that may come up on a project. We also discussed how to ensure client's expectations and needs are met throughout a project. These topics facilitated some thoughtful and collaborative discussions that we greatly enjoyed!

These discussions also let us know that our local designers would like to engage with us more to understand the features of specific products in order to better serve their clients. With this feedback, we will be hosting monthly Product Knowledge Training that will focus on different products and specific vendors in each meeting.

We look forward to hosting our local designers again soon!
Mannington Mill Tour
On May 10th, a group of our employees went to Madison, Georgia to visit Mannington's plant. While on this tour, our team was able to see how Mannington has made every effort to ensure their processes are as efficient as possible, like reusing cut material and more controlled acclamation procedures. They also have the ability to customize flooring, like in the photo below, with precise cuts and detailed graphics. To avoid ongoing tariff price regulation, Mannington is in the process of moving their off-shore manufacturing plants to the US. They recently purchased a second plant to operate in Madison that we toured as well. Thanks to the Mannington team for a fantastic tour!
Lake Oconee Remodel Underway
Our Lake Oconee Remodel has begun and is in the early stages as you can see above! The plan is to expand the showroom in order to ensure that we have enough office and showroom space to better service our customers. We are excited for what's to come and will update you all with the progress as the remodeling continues!

Want to send us some fun photos of the progress? Email them to the DCO Marketing Email so that we can share them with everyone!

Starnet Design Awards
The 21st Annual Starnet® Design Awards were recently held in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona. The ceremony, which plays a major part in the organization’s spring meeting, celebrates the dynamic partnerships between Starnet Members, vendor partners and the A&D community.

For 2019, DCO Commercial Floors took home two awards. Congratulations to the teams of the Bailey Power Plant and Heartis Senior Living projects!
Gold in Mixed-use: Bailey Power Plant
“Clean lines, a controlled design aesthetic and the smart use of flooring materials make this project a winner,” said O’Neill. “Nothing clashes with the brick walls and steel structure, and the juxtaposition of the existing structure and new materials is impressive.”

Jack Gilliam:

Jack was recognized with the Making It Easy award this month, because he consistently does whatever it takes to turn an obstacle into a win for DCO. He’s been called the problem solver extraordinaire! Recently he came up with a solution for a very specific and challenging Travertine design detail requested by a very demanding customer. This particular customer has presented continuous challenges, which Jack and our tile team have worked out flawlessly.
Steve & Russell Garrett

Steve and Russell have had to drop whatever they were doing multiple times during the past few months to discuss and demonstrate whatever design changes and challenges are requested by the homeowner during unannounced jobsite visits. They have executed phenomenal work on this project with professionalism and grace. They continue to “hit a moving target” and represent the very best of our “chain of excellence” in real time!! Great job, guys!
