I Believe the Children are our Future

A Note From Pastor Linda

Let the little children come to me. ~Jesus (from Mark 10, Matthew 19, Luke 18)

Dear ChURch Family,

Question: At what age does a child learn to drive?
Answer:_______ .
I would like to suggest that our children are learning to drive from the moment they are buckled into their car seats. Do you slow down for yellow lights, or speed up? Do you wear your seatbelt? Do you STOP at a stop sign? I could go on... I think you get the idea.

Question: When does a child learn they are a child of God?
Answer:_______ .
I would like to suggest that our children are learning who and whose they are from the moment you welcome them into the family, and the moment the church welcomes them into the Kingdom. Concerning the teaching of children, we hear these words:

Attention! The LORD is our God! The LORD is the one and only God!   Love   God , your God, with your whole heart: love God with all that's in you, love God with all you've got! Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates. (Deut 6)

In Deuteronomy 6, God pleads with the people to pass his commandments and laws along to the next generation; to OUR children. The text goes on to give guidelines to help remember that God should be first in their lives and that we are called to teach constantly: while we eat our Cheerios; while we drive to the grocery store; on the way to soccer practice; AND on Sunday morning AND Wednesday evening AND during Vacation Bible School. We teach OUR children by how we LIVE and LOVE and SERVE- every day.

Here is an opportunity to BE THE CHURCH! On Sunday, August 4, the NEW Sunshine Discovery Center families have been invited to join us at worship. The lead teachers will be with us; Cemantha, Mabel and Steve. Here is the line up for the day:

Mission Jamaica
Date: February 1-8, 2020

Interested in meeting and serving our Neighbors in Jamaica?
Get involved with Hosanna coming this Winter, 2020. A Mission Jamaica trip combines a service project, with time for reflection and spiritual rest. It allows a person to experience an international mission field that is close to home, yet far enough away to immerse yourself in another culture for a week. Over 30 years of accompanying our Jamaican neighbors, has led to over 35 Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America congregations and several colleges from Minnesota as well as North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina and Illinois in partnership with St. Andrew's in Mahtomedi, MN to get involved to make a difference for this community.

Come and see...get connected with your global neighbors! Mission Jamaica has provided a way for folk to love and serve our neighbors just as Jesus taught. Jesus said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:30-31

This is an unforgettable opportunity for any age. Registration is open now, space is limited so SIGN UP TODAY! Travel as a family, individual, couple, or small group. This LIVE. LOVE. SERVE opportunity is a perfect way to live into Hosanna's mission! More details will be made available on our website.
