CORA CONNECTION
July 23, 2020

It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through the summer! The CORA team continues to advocate for services and get creative in service delivery through phone, video conferencing and face-to-face, in person programming. Early Years Fox Chase and Huntingdon Mills, as well as our four in-person summer camps, are now in their third week of programming. Our staff are thoroughly enjoying being able to connect with our children, providing the structure, fun and interaction the kids have been missing for months. As an agency we continue to listen, learn and grow to accommodate the needs of the communities we serve. We couldn't do it without you!

I'm pleased to announce that since my last message, the CORA vs. COVID fundraising effort reached its $100,000 goal! I am extremely grateful to all of our generous and caring staff, volunteers, partners and community members who have contributed to support the agency during this unique and challenging time! Your vote of confidence in the work we do has encouraged us in our hard work and given us further incentive, particularly during our most difficult days, to do even more to help our population of children and their families. Despite the many difficult days ahead, our commitment to you is to continue to explore innovative ways to meet unmet needs and adopt new ways to serve. Our need for support is ongoing and your continued commitment to CORA will be essential to our success for another 50 years.

May you and your families continue to enjoy a healthy and safe summer and please know we are resource also to you and your loved ones. Please feel free to reach out to us.

NEW!
Summer Suggestion Worksheets

CORA's teachers have been doing a tremendous job providing service to the students on their caseload in the schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and many other non-public schools in and around the city.  On a typical school day, a CORA educator works with their students to provide support in reading and math.  They aim to help their students develop the critical reading and math skills needed so they can experience academic success in the classroom.

When COVID-19 closed school buildings and made learning at home the new norm, the CORA teachers didn't miss a beat.  They connected with their students and families on virtual platforms and made sure their students continued to receive the support they needed to be successful.  The CORA teachers also emailed resources to parents to make sure learning continued at home.  Now that school's out for summer, CORA wants to make sure that students can continue to stay sharp by participating in some fun educational activities.

Check out these engaging reading and math activities for children in grades K-8.  There are also suggestions for children learning English as a Second Language!
