Illinois School Report Card Available Online October 30
Interactive data will highlight achievements from the 2018-19 school year.

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) will release the annual School Report Card on Wednesday, October 30 . Families will be able to view the Interactive School Report Card to learn more about our students' achievements from the 2018-19 school year.

For the second consecutive year, Lake Park has earned an overall rating of Commendable School . ISBE provides descriptions of each rating and the multiple measures of success that were used in calculating the rating. Notable highlights from the report card include an impressive 94.5% graduation rate, 97% freshman on track, and robust enrollment in college and career readiness courses like dual credit and Advanced Placement (AP). We are especially proud that 81% of AP students earned a 3 or better on their AP exams. Scores of 3 or better often qualify students for college credit throughout the nation. Finally, the average scores on the English and Language Arts, and Math portions of the SAT met ISBE's interim performance targets. The SAT and other College Board assessments are new to our Lancers; we anticipate that they will continue to make steady gains in the future.

French Foreign Exchange
International students' 10-day visit to Lake Park from France ends October 27.

Bienvenue  to 24 s tudents and three teacher chaperones who arrived in the U.S. on Thursday, October 17. Special thanks to Lake Park families who welcomed the international guests from Sainte Marie de Nevers School in Toulouse, France and will have hosted for 10 days when they depart this weekend.

The exchange includes French students staying with their American counterparts who  are enrolled in French 2 through Advanced Placement French. They have attended classes at Lake Park and participated in school activities as well as had the opportunity to visit Chicago attractions and museums. Their full itinerary kicked off with a welcome potluck at East Campus and will conclude with a trip to Goebbert Farm Pumpkin Patch and a Chicago Bulls game.

Lancers will complete the exchange by traveling to France during spring break and staying at the homes of their Exchange partners. The "Echange" or French Exchange provides a unique experience for students to not only see France, but to experience life as a French European as well.
Illinois DECA State Action Team
Lake Park Lancer elected to represent statewide student association.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. This month, one of our very own Lancers participated in a very tedious application process that included testing, interviews and public speaking to become a member of the Illinois DECA State Action Team.

Congratulations to Abhi Patel (11)  who competed against multiple students for this honor and represents Lake Park for the first time in this statewide capacity. He will hold this position for the 2019-20 school year with four other students from surrounding high schools. His official title is Community Outreach, which will focus on DECA's philanthropic efforts. DECA's Executive Officers are elected by the student members to provide leadership for the current academic year.
Envision Roselle Community Forum
Lake Park West Campus to host on November 6.

Envision Roselle is a community effort to gather input about public services, finding out what is important to residents, business owners, local not-for-profits, and other stakeholders, and how to make the goals and priorities into a reality that shapes Roselle over the next 30 years.

As planning starts for the next 30 years in Roselle, take a look back to see just how much a community can change over 30 years by viewing the Envision Roselle: The Last 30 Years video.

Help shape the long-term future of the community by providing feedback  about public services at the Envision Roselle Community Forum on Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lake Park West Campus auditorium. This session is open to all members of the community and will employ a keypad voting system that allows participants to provide real-time feedback.

The Envision Roselle Task Force timeline calls for citizen feedback to be gathered this fall, followed by data analysis and a final report to the community in March 2020. Visit Envision Roselle for more information.
