Hello, my name is Linda Beaty. One day when I was in prison, I was in the hole and I knew I had to do something different. It was my sixth time, and I was literally crying out to God, “Help me, give me a sign! What do I do? Where do I go?”
I knew I couldn’t just go right back to the streets. It was a vicious cycle for me: prison, streets, drugs, prison, streets, drugs. A girl heard me crying and hollered down, telling me to ask the IPO about TSM. I did just that.
Being in the AGAPE Reentry Program, I don’t have to stress over money for food, clothes, transportation, medications or hygiene products, as the program supplies all of that for me. I have nice clothes, shoes, and makeup, which makes me look good, and feel good. They offer classes like Identity, Substance Use, and life skills classes that teach me about various resources. I’m now learning how to effectively use those skills in my daily life.
By the grace of God, I can be a part of the TSM mission. My favorite part is being able to tutor the children in the ENAL After-School Program and give back to those in the community. These are children with incarcerated parents or who are two or more grade levels behind. We focus on helping them academically and help we help them build self-esteem, healthy relationships, and learn people skills that they can apply to their everyday life.
I am currently off parole, going to be baptized soon, and really living in God’s Word. For the first time in my life, I love me. I am so proud of myself and proud to be part of an organization that is so impactful and empowering.
Respectfully,
Linda Beaty
