2021 At A Glance
One month into 2022 and we are still reflecting on what a year it's been! We've had the massive challenge of re-opening a business that's been ravaged by wildfire, lost 90% of its staff, and lost all overnight accommodations, but that almost feels par for the course of 2021. We've all experienced challenge in some form this year, and there is something comforting in knowing it is a shared human experience.

On our end, challenge this year has looked like clearing the land of fire damage and debris, then repairing some structures like the Bridge, and building entirely new ones like the Aviary tents. Our teams have become creative in converting existing spaces to guest accommodations, like the Milky Way, Bell Hotel, and new Lodge rooms. We've had a number of amazing Service Weeks as well, where folks have helped clear the land, and planted trees anew. In January of 2021 we had a mere 15 staff members and now we are entering 2022 with 36 living back in community. It's been a radical year for our teams at Breitenbush, where we had to develop entirely new systems and operations, quickly pivot with unexpected challenges, and work cohesively and effectively to re-open a business after a major catastrophe.

Thank you for being here with us. We simply couldn't do it without you, and we appreciate you for bearing with us through our hiccups and changes. Cheers to 2022.
