Saint Matthew e-News | November 13th
A Neighborhood Church Making A World of Difference
"Love Wins"
Sunday Sermon

It is hard to reconcile our modern faith with Paul's faith. Paul found something in Jesus that emboldened him to forfeit his previously normal ‘MODEL’ life. What did he forfeit?
Title and reputation, professional friends and community standing, steady income and a warm bed most nights. But, more importantly, he forfeited designing his own life. He gave up careerism for calling. He gave up the fantasy of independence for the truth of interdependence. He allowed what was in his head about Christ to enter his bloodstream Join us Sunday as we look at how to follow Paul's example.

Grace, Gratitude, Growth - Pledge 2021

“Grace, gratitude & growth:" These ideas are at the center of all we do at Saint Matthew. The next few years are going to be an important moment of innovation and growth in the life of our church. Grounded in the grace of God and in gratitude for our neighbor, our community, and our love of Jesus, we can look boldly into our future.

The 2021 pledge packets were mailed out early this week. Please watch your mail for the packet, read over all the information carefully, and prayerfully consider how you will support Saint Matthew in 2021. As you pray, consider using this prayer:

"Great One, may our love abound more and more in knowledge & depth of insight, and may your love flow from us into our homes, our neighborhoods, and the world. Take our credits and debits, ins and outs, our pluses and minuses, surpluses and lacks, and show us how to use them to join the great chorus of Creation. Amen"

Please mail your completed pledge form in the envelope provided or click here to complete your pledge form online. We ask that you return your 2021 pledge by November 29th, 2020.
Thanksgiving Offering

This year our Thanksgiving Offering will be given to two missions, local and global, that are dedicated to feeding the hungry: Trinity Center and ELCA World Hunger. Please see your pledge packet that was mailed to you for more information and instructions on how to give.

We need volunteers for:

If you'd like to volunteer, please contact Amanda for more details and to sign up!
Coffee with the Pastor
Dates Added!

Hello Church Family,

I am so happy to be here with you and I can't wait to get to know each of your stories. Transitioning in a pandemic is something else. Normally we could have all kinds of events to get to know one another but in a pandemic that becomes a bit more challenging. So, I need your help.

Over the next few months, I'll be hosting on Fridays, "Coffee with the Pastor." We will meet at Starbucks, 2856 Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek. You can sign up using sign-up genius and place your order for your favorite coffee or tea drink. Your drink and your pastor will be waiting for you. It's your hour so feel free to bring a partner, spouse, small group etc. I can't wait to hear your story.

Peace and hope,

Pastor Rustin
