Restore or Retreat to host annual Rendezvous Nov. 14
The annual fall fund raiser is moving to the Foundry in Thibodaux!

Restore or Retreat will hold their annual fall fundraiser “Rendezvous” on
Thursday, November 14, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm
at the Foundry in Thibodaux.
The annual event is the primary fund raiser for the local coastal advocacy group, and will feature a silent auction with items donated by local merchants, specialty food and drinks, and music by the Cajun Music Preservation Society.
“We are asking for our community to come together once again and show their dedication to our coast,” said Mike Plaisance, Restore or Retreat President. “With the community’s support and strong leadership, we can continue to make positive strides in preserving our coast, community, and culture."

ROR joins GOMESA Coalition in Washington DC
The group traveled to the nation's capital to talk about increasing GOMESA
|
Louisiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, along with the Governor's Office of Coastal Activities, led a delegation of approximately 50 people to the nation's capital to advocate for a greater share of offshore royalty revenues, which here in Louisiana, is constitutionally dedicated to protecting and restoring our coast.
Victoria Sagrera Bourque joined members of the North Lafourche Levee District, Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District, Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District, parish presidents and more for one-on-one meetings with members of Congress and their staff. During the meetings, teams from Louisiana and other Gulf Coast states educated Congressional members and staff on GOMESA's history, its dedication to Louisiana's coastal trust fund and the positive attributes of legislation introduced by Senator Cassidy, Congressmen Richmond and Graves, as well as Congressman Scalise, all of which seek to improve Louisiana's share under GOMESA.

CPRA Soliciting New Project Ideas for Development of the 2023 Coastal Master Plan

BATON ROUGE, LA - The
Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority
(CPRA) is accepting project ideas that Louisiana citizens, governmental bodies, and concerned organizations would like to see evaluated and considered for possible inclusion in the next Comprehensive Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast that will be submitted to the Louisiana Legislature in 2023.
Predictions in the
2017 Coastal Master Plan
of future coastal land loss and storm surge-based flood risk, even with plan implementation, demonstrate that isolated project investments often provide minimal benefits beyond their immediate footprint or local area. Future predictions show the scale of the challenge facing coastal Louisiana and reinforce the need for the master plan process to focus on investments with beneficial effects at the sub-basin to regional scale. CPRA will accept proposals for new projects to be included in the
2023 Coastal Master Plan
that meet this challenge.
New projects can be proposed by
any
source, including academia, parishes, elected officials, agencies, NGOs, landowners, business/industry, and the general public. Emphasis should be on projects that continue to provide benefit in the face of sea level rise and subsidence without continued maintenance, those that make a contribution to maintaining estuarine gradients in future decades, and those that provide storm surge-based risk reduction at the community or regional scale. is a non-profit coastal advocacy group created by coastal Louisiana residents and stakeholders who recognize that the Barataria and Terrebonne basins are the two most rapidly eroding estuaries on earth, and that this erosion represents an economic and ecological crisis. With a growing membership of over 250 businesses and individuals, ROR seeks to identify and expedite the implementation of aggressive, large-scale restoration projects to protect this irreplaceable region.
