Safe, compliant, engaged, adaptable and happy...words that describe how things are going as we complete week 3 of the 2020-2021 school year. There is no blueprint for these unprecedented times but we are doing everything in our power to keep your children safe so they can continue to bloom in mind, heart and soul. May God continue to guide us as we work together on this journey.
Dear St. Rose School Families,
It was a good week at St. Rose School. Classrooms are buzzing with productive lessons, students are animated, teachers are dedicated, the weather is cooperating and our school remains a safe place as we comply with the state and diocesan guidelines.
I hope all parents in grades 1-5 were able to attend the virtual Back to School Nights this week. The sessions were informative, giving parents and teachers a chance to meet and get a sense of what's ahead for the year. As always, if you have questions please email your child's teacher directly. We value our partnership with parents in the learning experience.
We are in the process of assessing students in grades 1-8 based on the results of their testing on Edmentum. Teachers are trained to read and interpret results, enabling them to prepare individualized instruction for students.
It was wonderful to see students partaking in soccer, chess and track clinics this week. Thanks to our Athletic Director, Mrs. Ortega, for bringing this safe opportunity to our school community.
This coming Monday the HSA Golf outing will take place. I'm grateful for all of the hard work that has gone into making this possible and wish all golfers a fun day on the green.
Your cooperation is appreciated as we continue to fine tune procedures at school. Car walk is improving but still needs some adjustments. Please read the directions provided in Mrs. B's Student Life update and make note of the attached map to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Thank you.
In other housekeeping matters please see a link for the Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic Schools Family survey in the box below. Your participation is most valuable and much appreciated. I have also attached an update from the State of Connecticut Early Childhood Education in regards to masks and other safety measures. Please familiarize yourself with this information.
Beginning our Friday with the virtual school mass is such a blessing. We are grateful to the parishioners who are live streaming this for us. Please feel free to join us at 9 a.m. on Fridays by using this link https://www.strosechurch.com/live-stream
We hope that your children have adjusted to the school schedule and are spending age appropriate time on homework each day. Equally important, especially these days, is that children get outdoor time to run around in the fresh air and relax after a busy week. Wishing you all a beautiful Fall weekend.
Catholic schools rely on the time, talent and treasure of supporters. The St. Rose School Blooms Fund raises money for operational expenses, professional development, student enrichment programs, technology upgrades and all the things that make our school thrive. It is a critical component of the annual budget. We are charged with raising $150,000 to achieve a balanced budget in 2020-2021. Your help is needed! Here's what we have planned:
*$10,000 cash raffle - kick off early October with drawing before Christmas
*"Help Us Continue to Shine" letter campaign
*#GivingTuesday (Dec. 1st)
*Blooms Event (virtual) -- late winter/early spring
*Brick Sales (Spring start, evergreen)
Can you help? Email Laura, advancement@srles.com for details. The cash raffle needs a 6-8 person committee. It would be great to get class reps from all grades to encourage sales. Our hope is that EVERY school family can purchase one raffle ticket and help spread the word so we reach our 350 ticket goal.
Does your company offer Matching Gifts? Please check. This is an awesome way to raise money for our school. Other ideas welcome!
Together we can meet the $150,000 goal to ensure a bright future for our children and St. Rose School!
STUDENT LIFE UPDATE by MRS. B
Dear St. Rose School Families,
Perhaps you picked up a very tired child or two in car walk or at the bus stop this afternoon; after their first full week, having gone through five full days and hitting the books a bit more now, they are bound to be a bit tired! With autumn just around the corner, a beautiful weekend awaits and time for rest, relaxation, and some fall fun! I hope you have many opportunities to make memories with your family this weekend!
We want to stay connected, even though we might be learning in different places right now! Please consider sharing pictures of your children while distance learning, and we’d love to see pictures of all our students and families as they begin to enjoy some fall adventures. Please send pictures to dean@srles.com We can’t wait to share them on our bulletin boards, social media, and through the newsletter!
We hope you and your child(ren) had a great first “full week” back at school!
Thank you to those who sent in their HSA enrollment forms. All families are asked to enroll in the Home & School Association annually. Please complete the enrollment form (which can be found here:

We also ask that you indicate the ways in which you can volunteer to help us this year - please consider signing up to support one of our events or programs. Please send the completed form and check into school with your child in an envelope marked "HSA."
We look forward to seeing some of you at the Golf Outing on Monday. Pray for good weather!
We are seeking input and volunteers to help out with planned activities including a virtual 5k race, Halloween Trunk R Treat, an outdoor movie night, and a sunflower tour/wine tasting outing for the moms. Additionally, we are seeking a volunteer to coordinate the Box Tops program so please reach out! We welcome any amount of volunteering time or effort you can offer!
Please reach out to the HSA for support or ideas you may have - you can reach us at hsa@srles.com. We appreciate your support!
