Greetings from Patrik Melander, Chairman SACC Dallas - Fort Worth
Dear SACC Texas friends,
Now, in the midst of July, it is time to summarize the activities of the first six months for us at SACC
Texas. I can only say that it has been a very active and eventful start for 2019, full of interesting and
fun lectures and meetings with new people. It has been a true pleasure. Add to that, I also have the
pleasure of presenting new talented Board Members for the Dallas Chapter.

Christina Thoerngren is the new Vice Chair Woman and Secretary for SACC Texas, Dallas
Christina has a background as a Lawyer in Stockholm, Sweden, and she moved here to Dallas earlier
this year with her two daughters and husband, who work at Ericsson.

"The road to the Noble Prize" - Big Lunch in Houston with Nobel Prize Winner Dr. James Allison
May 22, Nobel Laureate Dr. James Allison was invited The Rice University Baker Institute and the
Swedish American Chamber of Commerce (SACC), at a lunch at Baker Institute, Rice University. Here,
he told the story about how his observation in 1996, that T-cells themselves could play a major role in
tackling cancer, an observation that led to the Nobel Prize in Medicine 2018.

SACC-USA Executive Forum in Washington D.C. June 13
The Executive Forum is regarded as the flagship event of Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce
of the United States of America. The 2019 event was - as always - held in Washington D.C. in
collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden and was hosted by H.E. Karin Olofsdotter, Ambassador of
Sweden to the United States. This years' theme was "business opportunities in a time of strong
political winds and rapidly evolving technology"

Swedish Cray Fish Party with superb delights from Louisiana
This year, the SACC-Texas Dallas moved its annual crayfish party to early June, all in order to get this
year's fresh Louisiana crayfish. The crayfish was prepared and cooked in Patrik Melander's a few days
before, under the supervision of chief cook Jonas Löwenborg, with other members of SACC-Texas,
Dallas. And it was a success! 60 people came and enjoyed the delights.
