PRACTICE ALERT

Dear Colleagues,

When we launched the Practicing Democracy Project nearly two years ago, in November 2017, we invited you to help us shape it. Thank you for the many ways you have done so: by giving your feedback on surveys, sharing the materials, and most importantly, using its resources in your personal life and with your community. You take the practices, topics, reviews, prayers, art galleries, program plans, and more from being theoretically helpful to making a substantial difference in the world.

We are happy to announce another way you can help shape the project: a new blog on Practicing Democracy . Each post will bring you stories about ways that the project's practices are being used, with the intention that they will also spark your own ideas. So far, for instance, you can read about a punctuation exercise that helps you assess your own state of mind and the state of democracy today. You can also learn about innovative ways to bring democratic principles into youth basketball .

What projects have you undertaken to uphold the common good and work for equality and justice for all? How do you reach across divides and create community? We invite you to send in your own stories of how you practice democracy. Please email us with what you'd like to share. One of us on the Practicing Democracy Project team will get back to you if we choose your submission for a blog post.

We will also continue to pay attention to teaching stories, speeches, overheard comments, TV shows, movies, news reports, and more to find expressions of democratic commitments and activities. And we will ask friends and spiritual teachers to contribute their own examples.

Thank you for caring about democracy and for bringing this project's features to life! We look forward to hearing from you.
Salaam, Shalom, Shanti, Peace,

The Practicing Democracy Project Team
