9:15 am and 11:15 am
In Recovery from White Moderation
Reverend Forrest Gilmore
In the Letter from Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to 'order' than to justice." What if the white moderate is us? How do we step out of the longing for comfort and order and into the call for justice?
Rev. Forrest Gilmore, our guest in the pulpit, serves as our affiliated community minister. He is also Executive Director of the  Shalom Community Center.
