Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
-Matthew 19:14 (NIV)
Dear Galloway Family,

I hope this letter finds you well and that all your family and friends near and far are safe, healthy and happy after the recent "Hurricane Laura" scare. As we head into our third week back I want to reiterate how very proud I am of all that our students and teachers have accomplished. Mostly, during these COVID-19 times, I am really impressed at how our students are following procedures relating to wearing their masks, navigating the “one-way” hallways, using the sanitizing stations properly and really adjusting to the new normal of this pandemic.

For our E-Learners, I wanted to thank them all for working through the “first few weeks” technical glitches as we all really start to find our groove for our online instruction. Our teachers are working SO hard to master teaching BOTH in-person students and online students at the same time. It is quite the difficult task to manage two different groups of students as well as managing the various intricacies of Zoom, ItsLearning, Office 365, online textbooks and other resources simultaneously. I am confident that it will just get better and better each week as everyone adjusts to the new routines! As always, if you or your child need technology assistance, visit the tech section of this newsletter for how to contact our amazing Instructional Technology Coach, Ms. Fabiola Vacatoledo.

Don't forget! The Galloway Schools new instructional leader, Dr. Marny Doepken, will begin her transition over to Galloway starting the week of September 8, 2020. We will be working side by side for a few weeks, then there will be a gradual release into October. I am very excited for you to get to know her, so please look out for a future "Meet the Principal" opportunity during the month of September.

Let's make it a great third week of successful learning! Go OWLS!

Kind Regards,

Mrs. Williams
What if I need to check my child out of school early for an appointment?
Throughout the year, your child may have an appointment. Simply send their teacher and myself an email. We will have them in the office ready when you arrive to sign them out.
Friendly Reminders
When is my child considered LATE for school?
Class instruction begins at 8AM, which means the lower school and upper school doors close at 8AM. If it is past 8AM, then you must drop off at the office doors.

Virtual Learning Support

I am amazed to see our students develop so many new tech skills in such a short amount of time. We are proud of our virtual learners for your commitment to learning at home.

I'm committed to making sure technology is not a barrier, but an asset to your child's learning. Keep in mind that support is still available for your new classroom sites login information and navigating Itslearning and Office 365.

Your child may also contact teachers and myself on Itslearning message and Outlook when they have questions or need help with assignments.

Have a great week!

We ask that parents continue to give positive reinforcement at home for all the new safety procedures these kids are having to learn. We know that it is hard to keep the masks on all day in the classroom, and when the kids come home and talk about their feelings towards it, we appreciate parents to encourage them to keep up the good work!

I also want to remind parents to please build the time into your morning routine to fill out the COVID screening document. The required time frame to do this is every morning from 6:00 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. and not the night before or not after the student has been dropped off. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to keep our daily records straight until we can get the app launched.

Please also keep in mind some masks are more delicate than others and you may need to keep a couple spare masks at home in the case your student comes home with a replacement mask from the school.
As always, thank you for your continued support!
